Manolo’s Tuesday Miscellany

Manolo says, here are the few links which may perhaps amuse…

He hired The Closet Factory to install two new closets in his new Long Island City apartment and when they showed up to put them in guess who one of the installers was.

Here’s some, not all, just some of my magpie-like collection.

And personally, I don’t see the attraction of alligator skin.

The Kutcher story amused me, but I just don’t believe it wasn’t staged. Those photos are awfully well done for there to not be a professional photographer taking them. And…studying up for a role as a closet installer? It’s not like they have master craftsmen doing this sort of work.

The shoe collection photos made me sad. Those poor shoes! So many of them looked neglected. Shoes are like pets: don’t get them if you can’t take care of them. Also, sadly, tragically, shoes, like pets, are apt to die, especially if neglected or mistreated. Some of those shoes looked like euthanasia would be a kindness.

If I correctly recall from my brief foray into retail shoe sails in the early 1960s, alligator was considered both exotic and long wearing for the weight of the leather. It supposedly had a higer abrasion resistance than other leathers and required less care.
