Redirects to the Spam Sites
Manolo says, it has been called to the Manolo’s attention that some of the Manolo’s visitors, while attempting to reach the website of the Manolo, have been redirected to the spammish spam sites where they have been assaulted by the spammy ads.
Mostly likely, these sites were of the ErrorSafe or the DriveCleaner varieties, more of the terrible nuisance than the outright disaster.
The Manolo believes these redirecting ads were being served to the Manolo’s site through one of his ad partners.
If you are one of the unlucky peoples to whom this has happened, the Manolo apologizes to you profusely, he is very sorry, indeed, for this trouble.

As I want to be super fantastic, I read the Manolo. I was assulted by the ErrorSafe yesterday. It was not super fantastic.

And I received the attention of DriveClean. Thank you for the apology. I appreciate the civility.

Please accept the Manolo’s apology.
As the Manolo said, apparently this was the result of the ad with the malicious code embedded in it being displayed by one of the Manolo’s advertising partners. Here is the webpage that describes to some extent how this works.

Manolo, I was just assaulted mere moments ago by yet another spam redirect as soon as I arrived at your blog. If it makes you feel any better, these spammers have been infiltrating many of my favorite blogs over the past couple of weeks, so you are not alone. I say we hunt them down and box their ears.

My poor elderly computer has been assaulted on the Manolo’s site and others as well. How much more can a mature *couple* such as us take of these intrusive charlatans? Manolo we shall persevere!

My two cents- using Firefox instead of IE will prevent a lot of these types of things.

How creepy.
It hasn’t happened with Safari, Manolo.

To the Cassandra: I use Firefox on my home computer and this has not happened there. I am forced to use IE at work, however. It is the browser of choice for the firm and we are not allowed to download any software on our office computers. Dangit.
To the Manolo: Just so you know, I was diverted to the “errorprotector.com” website a moment ago when I arrived at your blog. Go get ‘em!!

Cat, I am in the same situation. I had to explain to our IT guy why I was looking at shoes :)
