What the Manolo Is…

Manolo says, it is Tuesday, time to see what the Manolo is…

Reading…

Watching…

Listening to…

The Manolo found that this Knocked Up movie was quite funny, but ultimately it did not speak to him in any meaningful way.

First, it is shambling and indulgent sort of movie, one which needs the tightening hand of the stern editor to speed things along.

Secondly, and perhaps more importantly, the matters which are treated in this movie (how to grow up and take responsibility) should be principally of concern to the late adolescent, not to those of us who have already long passed such milestones. But this is the problem with the recent cinema, no? The majority of movies are not made for the adults.

That said, the Manolo has been greatly enjoying the Loudon Wainwright’s soundtrack of the movie.

That being said, I know an awful lot of adults of every age who must be frequently reminded that they are, in fact, ‘grown up’ and must take on the responsibilities at hand.

And, it made a point about having fun with those responsibilities. Pete and Debbie were taking responsibility, right? But they’re so miserable they might not be able to for very much longer. It isn’t just not being irresponsible.

And Old Filth? Is The Manolo enjoying it? I found it a wonderful, touching book.
