Calvin Klein’s Suri

Suri by Calvin Klein Manolo Likes! Click!

Manolo says, the Manolo is not only the big fan of this embellished ballet flat from the Calvin Klein, he also the admirer of the designer’s savvy marketing decision to jump upon the celebrity baby-naming bandwagon before it leaves the station. Look soon for the Apple, the Brooklyn, the Shiloh Nouvel, and the Moxie Crimefighter.

Manolo, this is one of the very few times that the KateriBella does not find the shoes quite so beautiful. While both the Manolo and the Calvin Klein are both superfantastic, these shoes bring to mind the offspring of a menage a trois between a ballet pointe shoe, a children’s ballet flat, and Grandma’s houseshoe! Of course, the imagination of the KateriBella just ran rampant…picture in your mind a woman in curlers and a bathrobe, running out to get the paper, and the neighborzA sees her. “Miss are you feeling well?” “Of course! I’m wearing my Calvin Klein Suris, can’t you tell?” (flounce back through the front door in a huff, miffed that someone would mistake her for ill)

Indeed, the Brooklyn is already available:

I agree with KateriBella – pointe shoes are the last thing one wants to emulate when trying to design a flat, ballet-inspired shoe. My feet, as well as the feets of many other dancers, resemble canoes when we stand in flat on our pointe shoes.

Nice to know they adopted the Russian-style elasticised back though. I have always loved that about Russian pointe and flat shoes.

I think they’d be cute for a little one, maybe up to age 7 or so, but not so much for an adult. And I generally LIKE ballet flats.
