I think she is beautiful. Whatever a woman wears to look attractive and feel good is fine with me. And she doesn't even have to care what I or anyone else thinks. If you want women in burkhas, because you are married and can't stand the temptation, or you are worried about your children's reaction to flirty clothes, there are plenty of places in the world to settle. Maybe pick one where they can't meet your eyes either. And don't get me started on lipstick. OMG
I am much more ill at ease with gross obesity, sloth, body odor and lack of any civil manners or cultural awareness exhibited by large numbers of people in public.

This is America. This isn't Nazi Germany. Be proud of our freedom. Thank God I can do what I want, when I want, where I want as long as it isn't against the law. I am also a man who married one woman. I think the woman in question is beautiful. What can you see of her body? LEGS! Come on now, what is wrong with seeing legs? Am shaking my head at the ridiculousness of the whole situation.

I applaud Southwest and hope that they will see this through. I know I'm still a person that sees this type of clothing as offensive(because I'm a man who has married one woman and don't need to see this much of the body of another woman!!).

I will be sadened and annoyed and deeply upset when the day comes I and my sons have to walk off of a plane or bus or whatever because some innappropriately dressed girl ISN't asked to cover up. And if it is a guy with his underwear showing, then I'll tell him myself. Guys don't have a free license, they must not dress innappopriately either!!

Respect others by dressing modestly. If someone wants to see less then they can go to Hooters or a sex hall or whatever....don't bring that dirt to me.

Also, I wish they'd get it off and out of Sports, I like sports but may give up watching them because many cheerleader squads are dressed filthily too! And I don't want to see it, NEITHER do I want my sons to see women as nothing more than sex dolls.

To clarify, if anyone is still reading: She may or may not be a hooker, as I implied. The doctor's appointment detail was not in the original report I read. Even if she was, and was wearing a patent leather skinsuit, I personally would welcome her on the plane. But Southwest should reserve it's right as an AMERICAN company (cuts both ways, see) to make that decision on its own.

For Ninjarina (sorry to resurrect a dead thread, but can't let this pass):

I said: “With Southwest, with its habit of extorting extra fares from fat people, you never know. But I do wonder if the event was precipitated by complaints from other passengers.”

Ninjarina said:
"Actually, many airlines do that."

No, they don't. Southwest is alone in this.

"I paid for my already tiny space and no offense but I don’t feel like someone’s body should encroach on it."

The fat person paid to fly, too, I might point out. If the airline is providing insufficient space for its paying passengers, that would be a problem with the airline, not the passengers.

"Also, think of the extra fuel it costs. When it comes to moving people around, obesity causes all types of problems - just ask EMTs or nurses."

Non sequitur department, you have a call coming in....

When she appeared on the Today show she had to tug, twist, and pull her outfit into place to keep herself covered- and even though she was on her best behavior and totally conscious of her need to prove there was nothing wrong with her outfit, she managed to flash millions of viewers with a shot of her private areas when she sat down. The Today show blurred it, and in later airings cut that segment completely- because it wasn't suitable for their viewers.
Airline passengers, unfortunately, did not have the cut and edit capabilities of the Today Show, so they saw unedited and uncut footage of her flashing what should never be flashed in public, and I only hope she was actually wearing underwear.
Imagine being the parent of a child who had to stand in line behind her- or sit in an aisle seat as she walked by, affording the child a full and unobstructed view right up her four inches of skirt.

And if she had indeed been so humiliated and embarrassed, she would not have worn the same four inches of skirt home on the return journey. She would have purchsed a pair of sweat pants or leggings.

Yes, because the women who choose to ignore the misogyny over at Hooters naturally presume themselves to be looked upon with respect at all times.

Sigh. Join the revolution already, sister girl.

The sixties commercials say it all. My mum remembers those flight attendant commericals -- excuse me, stewardess commericals; this was before their union finally fought off all that nonsense -- which all basically said the same thing: hey look, now here are some more women who only exist to serve the men.

All day, every day, we hear only two options: strip down or cover up.

Aren't we tired of it yet?
