Take a second look at Sofft. it seems like they are getting cuter and cuter every season. I consider myself pretty fashionable and I have a bunch of Sofft styles. In fact, I am going to London and Paris today and am bringing two of their boot styles and one of the ballet flats.

I must say, I don't like the Donal Pliner pair AT ALL! Hideous.

Agggh, these belong in the Gallery of the Horrors!! Usually I feel the same about shoes from Born or Sofft, but I think those would be much more appealing and practical. These girdle elastics from Pliner also have a small heel - so if you're going with any sort of heel at all, a pair of low heeled shoes from Cole Haan's Nike
Air technology would also be great here. Pliner also makes a reasonable looking low heel pump with the girdle elastic that looks stylish and would be just as practical.

Just not the loafer. I'm still shivering.

Why don't you get a nice pair from Camper (www.camper.es), very comfy even with heels and pretty. Their shop in Paris is nice and artsy and in a very pretty place.

Hmmmm, the shoes look to have a higher heel than they actually do. Good design technique.

Meg -- I totally have those shoes (in silver). They are fantastically comfy -- pretty amazing for a pair of cheap, synthetic shoes with minimal padding. They're cute too!

Hmmmm...... I don't like them. Then again, I don't like loafers in general. My favorite comfy shoes are a pair of black ballet flats with ribbon trim. I got them from Payless during a BOGO sale and in one week I walked over 35 miles in them in London - and my feet were still happy.

Manolo, would you be so kind as to recommend a similarly comfy pair for the dress? I discovered the Sofft 'Venice' which I adored, only to find it no longer available in my size. Despite diligent searching, nothing similarly fabulous/comfy...

Ick! No one under 75 should wear stretch fabric shoes!!! What about Sofft shoes if you're doing a lot of walking? Poron insole cushioning is the key.

I moved to San Francisco right after college in 1993 and immediately discovered these shoes for all the walking required. Now that I live in LA I don't walk really at all but always have these in some version or another specifically for cooler travelling days requiring a LOT of walking yet still looking fantastic. I especially like to wear them with opaque black tights & and my other travel standby, the above-the-knee black wool jersey skirt. Allowed me to be confortable and not look like a tourist in Paris, London, New York, Shanghai, Florence, Rome...
