Whose Shoes Wednesday…The Answer

Manolo asked, whose shoes?

Kathy Griffin Loves the Shoes

Manolo answers, the Kathy Griffin!

Congratulations to the Manolo’s internet friend Cat, who was the first to identify whose shoes.

The Manolo loves the Kathy Griffin. Yes, she is crude, over-the-top, and somewhat out-of-control with the plastic surgery and the hair coloring, but for all of that she is exceedingly funny and her fashion sense is not bad.

The Big Question

Manolo says, the Plumcake has asked the Big Question:

What sartorial staple –the handkerchief hem, puff sleeves, whathaveyou– would YOU like to see die a quick, painful death?

For the Manolo, it has recently become the short bubble skirt.

But, you must go and add your candidate for the chopping block to the growing list.

The Insufferable Trumps

Manolo says, it is not often the Manolo feels like slapping someone based solely upon appearances.

It is unprecedented that he would feel this way about three peoples at once.

Zappos Sends the Flowers!

Manolo says, the Manolo is not surprised by this story about the Zappos extraordinary customer service.

Zaz Lamarr meant to return some shoes to Zappos, but her mom passed away and, naturally, she just didn’t have time. Zappos arranged to have UPS come pick up the shoes—and then sent her flowers:

When I came home this last time, I had an email from Zappos asking about the shoes, since they hadn’t received them. I was just back and not ready to deal with that, so I replied that my mom had died but that I’d send the shoes as soon as I could. They emailed back that they had arranged with UPS to pick up the shoes, so I wouldn’t have to take the time to do it myself. I was so touched. That’s going against corporate policy.

Yesterday, when I came home from town, a florist delivery man was just leaving. It was a beautiful arrangement in a basket with white lilies and roses and carnations. Big and lush and fragrant. I opened the card, and it was from Zappos. I burst into tears. I’m a sucker for kindness, and if that isn’t one of the nicest things I’ve ever had happen to me, I don’t know what is.

Such dedication to the customer is one of the reasons why the Manolo frequently recommends the Zappos to his internet friends.

The Third Anniversary of the Manolo’s Shoe Blog!

Manolo says, ayyyyy! The Manolo has been in ill most of the day with the bad cold, sleeping and taking the medicines, and so it is only only now that he has remembered that today is the third anniversary of the Manolo’s Shoe Blog!!

And so he belatedly shouts…

Happy Anniversary!!!

It was three years ago, on October 16th, 2004, that the Manolo invented the shoe blog.

It is hard to believe, but three years ago, the Manolo could count the number of the fashion blogs on the fingers of the single hand, and now, marvelously, there are thousands of them, each more wonderful and amusing than the next.

And this is exactly as it should be.

We live in the era of miracles and marvels, when for the first time the tools of mass dissemination and entertainment have been placed directly into the hands of the humble.

And in response to this opportunity, millions of the humblest have taken up these instruments and set about making their own music, each playing his own song in his own way. And together these millions of peoples, all playing as loudly and as passionately as they can, have produced the glorious and cacophonous music of freedom.

And the Manolo has been proud to add his little song to this symphony of noise.

He is also proud of those who have chosen to ally themselves with the Manolo.

Never teh Bride at the Manolo for the Brides, Izzy Gallant at the Manolo for the Men, and Mr. Henry at the Manolo’s Food Blog, are all old friends, who have been joined by our new friends, Raincoaster and Glinda at the Teeny Manolo, Plumcake and Francesca at the Manolo for the Big Girl, Twistie writing on the weekends, and Spirit Fingers at Ayyyy!.

The Manolo is convinced that taken as the whole, there is no group of bloggers anywhere who are as consistently funny, or write as well, as these peoples. That the Manolo has brought them together and given them the place to be read, is among those things of which the Manolo is the proudest.

Finally, and most importantly, the Manolo must thank those peoples who have been most instrumental in the success of this enterprise, the many thousands of the internet friends who each day visit this place.

The attention, generosity, and love the readers have given the Manolo over the past three years are without compare, and can never be repaid. All the Manolo can do is recognize that he has been truly blessed, and say thank you for all that you have given.

You are indeed most super fantastic!
