Louboutin Over-the-Knee Boots and How Not to Wear Them

Manolo says, the words “Christian Louboutin Over-the-Knee Boots” shout SEXY, but here you see Mariah Carey and Jennifer Lopez demonstrating that there is the fine line between sexy and ridiculous. Mimi simply looks ready to do the Pretty Woman stroll on Hollywood Blvd.

As for the J-Lo, all the Manolo could think about was this…

Which is clearly not what Christian Louboutin had in mind.

Yeah, Mimi’s or her stylist were completely wrong for the entire outfit. However, I kind of like the way JLo is rocking her thigh highs…without that ridiculous hat of course.
So, Great Manolo…how should one wear the thigh high boots from the splendiferous Louboutin (my most favorite designer-LOVE HIM!!!)????

Like LaVida2, I think Ms. Lopez looks stunning in her 60’s inspired outfit. The hat is just a touch off, but not inappropriate.

I also wonder exactly how the stylish lady would wear thigh-high boots?

I don’t think JLo looks bad at all.

J-Lo looks like a chorus girl from “Springtime for Hitler”.

I’ll join the chorus – how exactly should one wear over-the-knee boots? They’re not to my taste – I think it’s hard to avoid looking like a hooker in these things, frankly, but J. Lo succeeds. I think she looks very fresh, very mod, very 60’s. What don’t you like?

gemdiva — you made me fall out of my chair! That’s awesome!

That video tells me that The Manolo’s mind works in mysterious and sometimes just plain wacky ways…

Should your hemline cover the boot tops?

  9. sarah October 25, 2007 at 8:36 am #

that would seem to sort of defeat the purpose.

I’m no fashionista, but it seems to me that the only thing that really looks good with over-the-knee boots is jeans.

Carrie Underwood (of all people) was rocking some pretty damn good looking OTK leather boots (Marc Jacobs I believe) on Good Morning America. She paired them over jeans, which minimized any “hooker” effect from the boots, and she looked great.

I too am a fan of Eric Von Zipper! They just don’t make movies like that anymore!

Am imagining Jennifer Lopez with Eric Cartman’s “authoritay” voice coming out of her mouth…

That truly was one of the funniest mouse-overs, ever, period.

Do you think JLo is going for the Naughty Prison Guard role in the new Austin Powers?

To me, it needs that chain-veiled hat from that long-lost Prince video to be absolutely perfect.

  15. La BellaDonna October 26, 2007 at 11:26 am #

La BellaDonna says Hola to the Angelhair and the Victor! La BellaDonna, she has the over-the-knee boots. She has the true swashbuckling pair, which is worn with the breeches and the sword and is used for the swashbuckling, and the pair that is much more in the manner of The Avengers. When La BellaDonna wears the second pair, she wears them with a long skirt – either the very long straight skirt, slit either in the back, or on the sides, up to the point where La BellaDonna’s miniskirt hem would be, if La BellaDonna were of an age to wear miniskirts, or with the very long full skirt, with petticoats underneath. With the full skirt, La BellaDonna tucks up a bit of the skirt hem into her waistband on each side (where the side slits of the long straight skirt would be), creating a dramatic swath of fabric, leaving visible glimpses of the tantalizingly draped boot and leg.

I just saw that movie again last week, for the first time since I was a kid. Best of the Frankie and Annette movies, IMO.

Does anyone know where I can get the boots? I would love to get them as a christmas gift for my sister but I don’t know the website. It is not on Louboutin’s page.

. . . no no, not La Lopez. . . I just found this blog while searching for a pair of the Christian shoes. I made my way to the Manolo’s 12/19/05 7:09 p.m. post and just fell in love with the awesome pair of boots there. Does anyone, anyone at all know where, how or when I can procure a pair of that magnificence? Ooh la la, they are fierce. I would like them in a size 8.5 or 9. I can be reached at MeBRt 4U @aol.com. Thank you fellow shoe addicts.
