Christian Louboutin Bows
Manolo says, the Manolo cannot recommend everything that comes from the atelier of Christian Louboutain. In this case, it is the Anemone, the Louboutin shoe with too much junk in the trunk.

*hides face*I rather like them!Though I doubt I could ever wear them.I’d kill myself falling over those ribbons which would most definitely come undone within five minutes of walking.Or even sitting still.

I like them too. I think with a fitting black dress perhaps with minimal red trim they could be very classy for an elegant Christmas party

I kinda like them too. I’m seeing them a minimalistic LBD, black hose, perhaps even a severe chignon.

Sometimes the designer shoes, they are a thing of beauty that has become sculpture rather than a thing to be worn. This evolution is met with varying degrees of acceptance by those of us who love the shoes but cannot, perhaps, negotiate such total transcendence of form over function.

I have to agree with you on this. It looks like they took a perfectly beautiful shoe and stuck an out of proportion bow on it for no good reason.

Your post is right, the originals looked so much nicer… I wish there was a picture of that bow from the back view.
Overall, I like the concept and appreciate the jumbo bow proportion, I just wish there was some element of the satin or ivory or ribbon edge delicately incorporated into the main shoe itself, so it didn’t look like a random heap of ribbon hot glued onto the back of a basic - though beautiful- black shoe.

I think this would be pretty stunning with seamed stockings. Not classy, but stunning. Sometimes that’s a good thing.
Louboutin, to my mind, never CAN do a plain pump. It is always adorned with that flashy red sole and heel, therefore never pure. Always ornamented. It’s such a limiting design feature that it really hurts the shoes aesthetically in most cases. Branding over beauty.

While I agree the pre-production look much better, I’d still wear these in a heart beat. They are just fabboo!

I soooo wished they looked like the original photos. In spite of the HIGH cost I would have jumped all over them. They came in an amazing olive green and cream too.
I was so bummed!

I love these shoes. At first look I let out an audible, involuntary GASP. I think the visual effect is quite impactful. A woman with these shoes on her feet would surely command attention. Methinks I like I like. I like them a lot.
I must admit that Poochie’s great public service warning re: these shoes was apropos. They did indeed transform (in a downward spiral) from pre-production to their current version. Thanks for the wonderful blog Poochie.
But in the final analysis the shoes are definitely stunning__ in my not so humble opinion, that is.

Apparently, this is one of those rare cases where the tastes of the Manolo do not fully coincide with those of his friends.
For the Manolo this is just too much, buy your mileage may perhaps vary.

Nope, I agree with the Manolo. They had a lot of potential — a LOT — to be truly stunning. But the final execution of the bow is a messy, pitiful disappointment. It could have been amazing, if only they’d stuck with the bow shown in the pre-production shots. :(

Ummm noooooo. Not loving the workmanship on the finished shoe. These remind me of the Bruno Frisoni ribbon stilleto sandals from 2006 - only that ribbon was in the front - still a deadly tripping hazard. Some starlet will cop a free pair and end up in the emergency room. Some things are just better in theory than in practice . . .

These are the sort of shoes that are meant to be admired on a shelf, not worn on a foot. They are gorgeous but too much for a real outfit.

I’d like to see the Pret-a-porter to this runway look, but unfortunately, this is the final version. Maybe a little less heel, a little shorter and less droopy loops on the bow. Alas, for what might have been.

The Manolo is quite right - the proportion is wrong. the shoes are imbalanced, which is odd for Louboutin - that’s usually one of his great skills. Less would have been more.
