Well, I’ll be damned - yes, I knew Joan Crawford was a dancer - but BALLET? Well, at least I got the shoe style time periods pretty well on.

Wow. I had no idea she could dance on pointe! That really threw me. I would’ve gone with Leslie Caron, but surely there would’ve been at least one picture in color, perhaps from the marvelous “Gigi.” I was so stumped, I had to refrain from guessing. Good one, Manolo!

Funny how back in the unenlightened 40s and 50s, the biggest female movie stars — Crawford, Stanwyck, Bette Davis, Susan Hawyard, Loretta Young — seemed to be so much more varied in looks and style than the skinny blondes we seem to run to now (talented though many of them undoubtedly are).

….I was thinking that she had been carrying two pails across her shoulders but she accidentally went through someone’s clothesline where a sheet got stuck…
