Well, I’ll be damned – yes, I knew Joan Crawford was a dancer – but BALLET? Well, at least I got the shoe style time periods pretty well on.

Wow. I had no idea she could dance on pointe! That really threw me. I would’ve gone with Leslie Caron, but surely there would’ve been at least one picture in color, perhaps from the marvelous “Gigi.” I was so stumped, I had to refrain from guessing. Good one, Manolo!

    OMG! I can’t believe I guessed it! :o)

    Oh gracious, those shoulder pads.

Wow, she was gorgeous, wasn’t she?

Funny how back in the unenlightened 40s and 50s, the biggest female movie stars — Crawford, Stanwyck, Bette Davis, Susan Hawyard, Loretta Young — seemed to be so much more varied in looks and style than the skinny blondes we seem to run to now (talented though many of them undoubtedly are).

I don’t think those are shoulder pads, but a wire hanger.

….I was thinking that she had been carrying two pails across her shoulders but she accidentally went through someone’s clothesline where a sheet got stuck…
