Oh, do you remember those trainers (sneakers) that had lights in the heels? Can’t recall the name but my brother (then about five years old) adored them and wanted a pair. Now, I suppose a five-year old would like the dinosaur track trainers from the Science Museum. As you walk, you leave the imprint of a dinosaur claw. How cool is that?

They still have ones with lights in the heels for kids, and plenty of sneakers that have prints on the bottom. At least half of the cheap sneakers for the under fives have lights in the bottom.

My youngest has sneakers that light up when he runs. They’re all the rage in lower elementary grades, but for boys, mostly. My daughter in 3rd grade wouldn’t be caught dead in them.

You have to admire the ingenuity that went into making the shoes show in the advert. Batteries and bulbs are much smaller and tougher these days. Those tap dancers had tiny glass bulbs on their toes! I bet the show was awesome.

I got about 25 feet of a product called electroluminescent wire and some drivers and made up a couple of hats. nobody loved them but me but for those of you in the market for tacky neon glow projects you can go to Coolight.com here

or others to create tacky/cool neon bar type projects. If you want to see my hats, I made some small video files I can send you if you want. basically though, you need the wire, some heat shrink, a soldering iron and solder, an Idea, and a way to fix the wire to the project. I used a low temp hot glue gun and a couple of party hats from party galaxy.
