Dolce & Gabbana Patchwork Ankle Strap Sandal
Manolo says, this sandal from the Dolce and the Gabbana is sort of item that rides the very thin line between utterly tacky and completely stunning, and for that reason the Manolo loves it! For as we know, the true fashion is found on the border between the classic and the trashy.

My M-I-L (whom I adore) claims to hate fashion as she owns a sewing shop and is a seamtress. After years and years in the business she hates how people spend money on trends, on the clothes that are poorly made, don’t fit, and destroy the figure of the wearer. It offends her frugal aesthetic. Simple Classics all the way for her.
Except for patchwork, she says there is something fulfilling about collecting beautiful scraps of fabric and creating bags with them. Yet any patchwork creation of hers is just so fugly it takes your breath away. Kind of like these shoes, lots of nice bits of material, interesting design yet worth way less than the sum of the parts.

I actually kind of like them :-) Maybe it’s because I do quilting? And, just for the record – I don’t do bed quilts, I do art quilts that hang on the wall like paintings. Hmmm… maybe I could wear those shoes to my next gallery show?

The classic style and interesting heel saves them but when I see patchwork bags and shoe I always think the company is just looking for a way to use up the scraps and pawn them off on on.

I would rock the hell out of those shoes.

I like them, except to me, the heel isn’t a very nice shape and it doesn’t match. Maybe that’s the point of it… hmm, provocative.

Because of the depth of the colours, they feel more stained glass than grandma’s bedspread to me. Fabulous, except I agree with Tigerlilly on the heel.
