Manolo the Columnist
Manolo says, here is the Manolo’s latest column for the Express of the Washington Post.
Dear Manolo,
Last fall, after eight years as a stay at home mom, I finally went back to work as a college teacher. As I look in my closet, I realize that I have nothing to wear on my feet when the weather gets warm except a pair of old Tevas. Please help me find something comfortable and confident that’s not too expensive.
Cathy.
Manolo says, Ayyyy! The shock of the returning-to-work mother! One minute you are in your kitchen wearing the sweatshirt covered with peanut butter and squeezable yoghurt, and the next you are standing before your class having just threatened the disruptive student with the “mother of all time outs, young man!”
But fear not, your experience as the parent will be useful, for after all, explaining to your three year old why the sky is blue is only slightly less difficult than getting the hulking All-American nose tackle to understand the three stages of the Hegelian dialectical process.
Of the course, first you need the shoes suitable to your new and intimidating station as the professor of useful knowledge. Shoes that say, “pay attention to me, for I am bringing you information that will enrich your life.”
Here is the Gloria, the sand-colored patent leather slingback from Cole Haan, the perfect combination of comfort and style.

It’s a beautiful show, of good quality, but it does seem to be on the expensive side. I guess if you wear them frequently, you’ll get your money’s worth.

shoe, dammit.

cheeky, you should know it is the quality/price ratio that counts: this shoe is well made and go with nearly everything, thus the price-per-wear will be pennies! How can you convince the future of america about investing in their education while not investing in decent footwear for yourself.

Oh Manolo. you said Hegelian dialetical process. I loves the educated man, I loves you more each post!
Oh - and Shoe is beautiful. I agree with Klee - it is one worth owning.
My only questions are : how are the ovals on the top attached? Are they metal?
I have unfortunately discovered that metal does not meld to your foot over time - like leather - and thus trying to walk can be stiff if the attachments and metal are thoughtlessly placed

Those shoes are perfect! They are totally sassy and cute in the back while being professional and teacherly in the front! (and cute.)

Thank you, Manolo! What a perfect suggestion! I will get my feet in a pair as soon as possible!

True about the expense.
But if you rotate your pairs, you can wear Cole Haans for about 200 years.
My great great grandmamma told me so.
P.S. Manolo, how I can haz teh kewt avatar like teh other gurls?
