Ann Demeulemeester Sneaker Grotesquely Overpriced!

Manolo says, it is not often that the price of the designer shoe can make the Manolo gasp. This Ann Demeulemeester sneaker has occasioned one such response.

Ugly AND outrageously overpriced…ooh, sign me up! (not!) :-p

  2. Rita Says:

    Now that’s just silly!!!!!

  3. Running With Heels Says:

Wow, that does not seem like a Saks shoe at all!

I assume that this shoe will experience a significant price drop in order for Saks to finally get that thing out of their stores.

  4. Gigi Says:

For $680 I want something pretty!

  5. Rondi Says:

    Gigi,
For $680 I want *several* pretty somethings! (o:

I don’t understand Ann Demeulemeester in general. Looking at the rest of her offerings, it’s yawn city. These sneakers are ugly; then she’s got some black strappy mules. Wowhowdy now there’s something you can’t find everywhere. I remember looking at some of her other stuff at Barney’s or somewhere and there was a combat boot, and I remember thinking “Doc Martens from 1992.” Maybe her parents are rich or have influence or something, but this isn’t the first time I’ve looked at her stuff and asked how stupid, exactly, did this person get to the level where somebody think it’s ok to try to sell her stuff for the same price as a pair of Louboutins?

  7. Jen Says:

These are black Converse, no? PF Flyers? Scam!

  8. La Petite Acadienne Says:

You could get the beautiful patent-leather Mary Jane by the Maestro Manolo for less than that, with enough left over for the classic, perfect Chuck Taylors. Shame on you, Ann Demeulemeester.

  9. texasexile Says:

Someone’s been hitting the crack pipe.

  10. oakling Says:

They’re black SUEDE converse. Biiiiiiiig difference. With a designer name and a wacky off-center lace-up… situation. I tell you, for $680 I expected them to be, like, made of organic bamboo and recycled tires and hand-crushed diamonds. Crushed from COAL.

  11. Dianne Says:

I have a pair so close to those, sorry to say they’re Plain Old Converse One Stars, I paid $39.90 at Good Old Nordstrom during an Anniversary Sale.

And I prefer them. Mark me down as not caring if some ‘designer’ slaps their name on them, that just makes it more ridiculous.

  12. Bridey Says:

I’m a good capitalist, for the most part, who believes things are worth whatever someone will pay for them. And, you know, somebody does have to support the wildly expensive shoe business.

But, in this instance, I don’t care how many people there are who are dumb enough to fork over the money: $680 is just too damn much to pay for these stupid shoes.

  13. tiggy Says:

    Oh, HELL no.

  14. me Says:

How different are those from Chuck Taylors?

  15. roz Says:

    YIKES
I no longer think the pink shoes are the ugliest shoes on the planet.

  16. Noga Says:

I’m disappointed. I thought the Manolo was practically UNshockable when it comes to shoe pricing. When I read of his gasp, I expected something like $2,680!

  17. raincoaster Says:

Isn’t she Belgian? I lived there when I was little and I can tell you they have an amazing knack of appearing perfectly sane while all being 100% loopy. It must be the beer.

  18. bape Says:

Love the crossover design with the laces. As for the shoes. No Comment!

  19. Jane Says:

“There’s a sucker born every minute” (might as well been said by this Ann Demented-person.)

  20. Anonymous Says:

Personally i love the ann demeulemeester kitten heel mules so much that money is errelevent, and i aint got none ..money that is but i sure as hell got me a pair o those mules! but yea these flats are v silly -im converse all the way (except for the fact that they are now owned by nike-pooh).

  21. James Says:

Maybe “pretty” is not the point?
