When, some day, I get into the tequila and make my Karaoke debut, I WANT THAT AUDIENCE!

And that was the improved version! Check out her initial audition to see how far she’s come (just Google “Valentina Hasan” to find her Wikipedia entry, which has links to both videos). I can’t help but love her, though. She’s got the ability to poke fun at herself. I wish more people had that ability.

It’s one thing to have that accent. It’s completely something else to spell the subtitles like that.

Oh wait. It just occurred to me that someone probably did that on purpose, which then makes it funny.
HA

She sounds like she’s singing phonetically. The closed caption transcriber did a good job of typing what (s)he heard. The end result is quite funny though.

The subtitles were added afterwards, they’re supposed to be funny! They’re not a mistake…
Here in France it is done quite often too, cf http://wideo.nouvellestar.fr/video/iLyROoafYJej.html

I’m a Peace Corps Volunteer in Bulgaria, and I’m so amused that this has been going around the internet. The first few weeks of Bulgarian Idol are always hysterical, not just because of the bad singing, like on American Idol, but because of the total butchery of the English language. This one is really egregiously bad, but it’s not at all unusual for the first auditions. I teach English and I’m always telling my students that they have to pay attention in class if they want to go on Bulgarian Idol and not make a total fool of themselves. (Of course they all want to go on…it’s SO popular. I’ve barely watched at all this year, though. It was somehow more entertaining last year.)

Bless her heart!

Oh, I dearly wish I knew someone named Ken Lee, because then they would get this link mailed to them in tribute (or worse).
But for all we are laughing at her, I bet none of us could do any better singing a Bulgarian tune.

I looked up “Valentina Hasan” in wikipedia and found the youtube link to her audition.
I have never gone this close to dying of laughter at work. It is HYSTERICAL :D

And I thought it was bad in Spain!!

I’m less amused by her accent than I am by her vague approximations of the pitch. It wouldn’t be nearly as funny if she didn’t sound like the plastered, if not tone-deaf then at least tone-hard-of-hearing sorority girls karaoke-ing away their sorrows before last call.

Oh that totally made my afternoon. It would be painfully hilarious without the subtitles, but adding them takes the comedic value to another level!
