I feel white sandals for timid souls are absolutely derogatory because in actuality they look stunning and bold. This particular pair seems to be neutral and looks quite neat.

How about $450 for a pair of Marc Jacobs flipflops! You can buy the same shoe, minus the MJ logo for $29.99 @DSW.

These designers must giggle all the way to the bank!

Me? I'll save my centimes for Sr. Blahnik's turquoise snakeskin Mary Janes, which haunt my dreams....

I don't know if I would buy these white sandals. They just don't grab me, lacking the "I must have them" urge. I think I can just buy a pair of white Haviana to flop around town for $20.

$200 for a pair of flip flops?? I understand the beauty of designer shoes, but that just seems ridiculous. Flip flops are flip flops, no matter whose name is on them - and no flip flop is worth that much.

White sandals look perfect with white shorts or capris. If they are very strappy, then they can go with any print that has some white in it. I agree with you, however, chachahHeels, that if there is Too Much White on the feet, it reminds me of Pat Boone, and I can't ever take myself seriously.

Those commenters you refer to are hardly "timid"!

I haven't figured out the purpose of a white shoe for adult life. When I was a child white leather shoes and sandals were all I was given to wear, as my mother had this crazy idea they went with everything--but honestly, they were an impossible request to make of a child, even in summer. When Labour Day came, I wasn't that crazy about the prospect of starting the new school year, but new shoes that were not white always made me feel much better about it. So the post (Victoria Day here!)Memorial Day to Labour Day rule is one I whole heartedly embrace.

Also: I almost bought a pretty, white flat sandal the other day--but passed it up without so much as a heartbeat when I saw the same sandal in brown leather, right beside it. White shoes just never look right.
