Christian Louboutin Pumps for the Monday

Manolo says, it is Monday and you are back at your desk, slaving away again for The Man. However, today, unlike most other Mondays you are feeling perky and chipper and bubbly and…and…wonderful, for you think that you may possibly, might be maybe in love.

Of the course, you cannot be 100% positively certain, for the modern condition of your generation, which might best be described as detached irony mingled with studied diffidence, has rendered you incapable of fully evaluating such things.

But, there it is again, that incomparably wonderful tingly feeling in the exact center of your chest, together with the shortness of breath that strikes you at odd minutes, with the hot flushes and the sweaty palms.

And one could well imagine that this might be the onset of some terrible illness, except that these symptoms are usually accompanied by bits and pieces of Elizabeth Barrett Browning’s Sonnets from the Portuguese, frequently wrapped around powerful mental images of that broad-shouldered, curly-headed young man with the liquid brown eyes.

So that one minute you are working on the Barfflefarb account, when whammo!

I think of thee!–my thoughts do twine and bud
About thee, as wild vines, about a tree,
Put out broad leaves, and soon there’s nought to see
Except the straggling green which hides the wood.
Yet, O my palm-tree, be it understood
I will not have my thoughts instead of thee
Who art dearer, better! rather, instantly
Renew thy presence. As a strong tree should,
Rustle thy boughs and set thy trunk all bare,
And let these bands of greenery which insphere thee
Drop heavily down,–burst, shattered, everywhere!
Because, in this deep joy to see and hear thee
And breathe within thy shadow a new air,
I do not think of thee–I am too near thee.

“WHERE THE HELL DID THAT COME FROM!” you shout silently to yourself, “I haven’t read Browning since I was thirteen!”

And now your heart is pounding in your chest and sweat is beading on brow, for you are picturing your beloved (”yes, ‘beloved’ that’s the exact word”) with his trunk all bare.

Ayyyyyy! What can this be but love?

The Manolo, who has experience in such matters, would now counsel you to relax, to enjoy what is the greatest of human emotions, terrible in it’s power, sublime in its effects.

Of the course, you will need shoes, beautiful shoes expressive of your condition.

Only can the Manolo combine the tender, yet sexy, love poetry with fashion appeal and tremendous shoes. Exquisite post, great shoes.

  2. Miss Janey Says:

Yay! Again the Manolo has featured a shoe that is not only lovely but also has a wearablr heel height.

  3. klee Says:

Perfection: both the shoe and the accompanying vignette.

  4. peterparker Says:

The heel is lovely and it is very high how can they use them

I’m not sure about the size of these heels, aren’t they just kitten heels? I’m an all or nothing girl I reckon, I discovered a new brand recently called Laura J, her heels are mostly 31/2 inches but sill comfortable because the heels are thicker and the styles are supportive, I think when the shoe has an ankle strap like the manolo’s, its always going to be a bit more comfy.

    great article. S.x

  6. gemdiva Says:

The shoes are, of course, pure poetry. However, the Gemdiva cannot help but wonder what has moved the Manolo to write so eloquently of life’s purist pursuit. Can it be that the Manolo has himself fallen in love?

  7. gemdiva Says:

Sorry, that would be “purest pursuit”.

  8. high heels Says:

It’s seems difficult to get excited about such conservative Louboutin’s. They are, of course, quite elegant, but if you are going to splurge on a pair would you not want to go higher?

  9. kicks Says:

Nice stems! love the curve on the heel. Really good looking shoe!

You can tell the quality of a chef by the way he or she handles simple, unadorned dishes. Does the poached salmon have a sublime flavor? If so, great chef.

I had always chalked Louboutin up to the sort of designer who works on flash rather than an understanding of lines, balance, proportion.

I was dead wrong! These are fantastic.

  11. Poochie Says:

It is interesting to me how perfect this shoe is in combination to the story and poetry. Browning, on the surface was conservative and composed, but in love there was so much passion. Just waiting to be revealed.

I’d want to go even further into her world and wear some vintage looking boots like these - http://www.simplysoles.com/product/645 - but under something like jeans and with a jacket that had a ton of small buttons down the front. Then they could be opened…. very slowly, one by one…

    Luv
    Poochie

  12. Kate Says:

I love the curvy shape of the heels, I wish they were on more shoes.

  13. Nora Says:

Manolo, I love you, but you just don’t do the apostrophes right.

  14. Silver Jewellery Says:

You just can’t beat Christian Louboutin. Congratulations the Manolo, these are classy AND wearable.

  15. Koichi Ito Says:
