Hola to the Dani! Were you introduced, foot first, at the aforementioned event? Shame on <i>them,</i> for not knowing better.

I offer you the [virtual cookie of comfort] and the reassurance of knowing that, in the not-too-distant future, you will surely have the corner office yourself, and you, in your elegant and stylish white shoes, can offer comfort to the new associate at the excrutiating "casual" daytime function!

I personally will never get over being mortified at a fairly casual day time function in September, being introduced as the new associate, in my glaringly white shoes.

The unfortunate fact is unless you're The Man (or The Woman) it's better to follow the "rules" at work, and even perhaps in certain social settings if it is important that you fit in. It's much easier to be your wonderful, individual self if you're not worried about your attire.

Having said that, if you happen to be the one who inhabits the corner office, please take pity on your underlings and wear some white after Labor Day!

Oooh, these shoes are lovely. They remind me of the pair worn by Bette Davis in Now Voyager when you see the new improved Charlotte. Quite appropriate for the subject at hand methinks - the message being you should think for yourself and don't be dictated to by The Man (unless The Man is The Manolo, then give careful consideration to his advice).

White pumps always make me think of Minnie Mouse - not the best look at any time IMO. I believe white shoes that are relieved by another color are acceptable in warm weather: skin showing in sandals, design details as in the featured peep-toe pump, etc. However, unless one is wearing an all white, or black & white outfit; I think a shoe closer to the wearer's skin tone looks more elegant than stark white.

I don't like white shoes after Labor Day. I also don't like them before Labor Day. Uneless we are talking about white athletic shoes (worn while exercising only, please) there is always another shoe that would look better. White shoes cheapen a look.

Hear! Hear! The tribe has spoken!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Even if it is a tribe of one. I would add my opinion to the worthy Manolo's except then it would become a "dia-tribe". Translation: I wear what I want, whenever I want, wherever I want! As long as it is appropriate for the occasion!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks Manolo! Maybe for next year you can create and sell some bumper stickers that blare "After Labor Day, white is alright". I won't recommend it this year though. . . too much competition with the Obama and McCain tags.
