The Manolo has this past week rediscovered and become completely absorbed and enthralled with the music of Tom Waits. Perhaps it is because the Manolo was too young the first time around to fully appreciate it, but he has found unexpected depth and poignancy in these songs.
Tom Waits is the true artist.
Ah. I love me some Tom Waits. ‘The Heart of Saturday Night’ is my favorite album. But the song, “Hold On” from the more recent ‘Mule Variations’ is fabulous.

The most intriguing musician ever, everything he’s ever written comes straight from his soul. It’s hard to find, but his duets with Crystal Gale for the soundtrack to Coppola’s One From The Heart movie are wonderful. I like everything he’s done, my bias about him is pretty strong. He’s done so much you’ll be busy being enthralled for a while!
