Manolo the Columnist
Manolo says, here is the Manolo’s latest column for the Express of the Washington Post.
0In May, I am graduating from a good law school. I am the harried mother of a small child, and I must confess I have frequently attended class looking less than super-fabulous. I would like to redeem myself by being the best-dressed graduate. The shoe will have to suit the traditional black cap and gown. It will be quite warm in May, so I will likely be wearing silk or linen underneath the gown.
Nola
Manolo says, ayyyyy! The Manolo congratulates his friend on her well-deserved success and on her proper desire to upgrade her image.Time to put away the stained sweat pants and the “Law Student by Day, Ninja by Night” novelty t-shirt and dress according to your new status, as the junior, bottom-of-the-heap, brand-new associate lawyer, the person with the work schedule so rigorous that it would leave the young resident doctors-in-training gasping for air.
For the new job, the Manolo recommends wearing something stylish, comfortable, and easily pressed, as you will most likely be sleeping in those clothes more than once.
As for the celebratory shoes of the graduation the Manolo recommends the Harmony from Taryn by Taryn Rose, perhaps to be worn with the black or white linen sheath.

Bravo on the shoe pick. I am not always in agreement with the Manolo’s choices (but that’s why it’s HIS blog and not mine) but this one I truly adore.
To Nola: Congrats!!!!!!!!!! I am reminded of my own daughter’s college graduation two years ago. Her father (my ex-husband) showed up in all his glory with his parents and brother __people who gave me hell in the past. I made sure I looked like a ^&&$$% million dollars from head to toe although the college tuition over four years was almost enough to render someone darn near homeless. LOL
Nola, enjoy your day and no matter how it goes, BE IN THE MOMENT!!!!!!!!!

How superfantastic!!! I am (as the Manolo says) the faculty member who attends graduations (I sit through three ceremonies) and it is always the delight to see the young peoples strutting across the stage, with the biggest of big smiles and sometimes authority-defying sauciness, especially the ones like Nola who put on their prancing shoes rather than the flop of flips.

These are what my mom would call “snazzy.” I love them, and I am especially glad to see a Taryn Rose shoe that doesn’t cost $400.

Those shoes are gorgeous, I’m sure you’ll look great in them. There a great choice of shoes. They are so chic, absolutely beautiful. I have a fetish for shoes and these are one good looking shoes. If I could get them I would get them for sure. I think every girl would agree with me about how stylish they are and they look very comfortable, not to high at all. The back strap should be a great help for a good support. It’s a bit pricey, but well worth it. You should definitely get them as a gift for yourself for graduation. Also, I’m sure they’ll last you a life time. You can wear them with anything, dress them up, dress it down; you’ll be stylish all year long. Sometimes, I like to buy expensive things because I know I deserve it, especially with something as great as graduating from law school. Although economy is bad and we do want to save money, but we need to spoil ourselves at times too. I think we work to hard, and when you work hard you play hard. I’m sure everyone will be speechless to see you looking all dolled up and all the ladies will envy your shoes. Well good luck with your new career and hope you get all that you ever wanted. Best wishes.
