I actually saw the video of this incident on TV this morning and it is really quite alarming how a single snapshot taken from the right angle and out of context can take something so inocent and turn it into a character damning moment. If you watch the video, President Obama is actually snapped at the moment he turns around to offer a helping hand to the woman in the blue & white skirt and black top to assist her in getting down the steps. I was very happy that the news show I watched this morning took the time to point out the difference between the photo and video. Don’t believe everything you see in the papers or on the Internet.
Yet, had it been President Bush, no video taken anywhere ever in the history of time would’ve stopped “OMG HE’S A PEERRRRRVVVVV!” shrieking from the hallowed halls of the media.
Even if he were checking the lady out, it wouldn’t bother me. I ogle attractive people all the time, especially if they’re dressed to attract my attention.
It just goes to show how NOBODY in public life can get away with anything. I believe I read that the still came from a British source, but I can’t verify that. Interesting that ABC news nearly broke their necks defending these guys. Whether it’s true that they were gawking or not, it’s still a very funny shot. And yeah, who cares?
Lisa, agreed, absolutely. The media now on the alert to defend the President at every turn is the same media ready to attack him at every chance a few short months ago. I also agree that, though the video suggests he wasn’t looking, if he had been, so what? There are worse things than appreciating the female form.
I cannot believe that any reasonable person wihtout an ax to grind and who actually watched that video would think Obama was ogling anyone. He clearly was helping the other woman with the step.

That’s hysterical! I figured Obama’s a butt man since Michelle O. has a nice one.

It is not quite as funny to La BellaDonna, watching men in power so blatantly reducing women to their body parts.

And it wouldn’t be nearly as funny if it were, say, Bush and Cheney doing the ogling.

I watched the video. It still looks like he’s ogling the young woman to me.

I have no problem with a man appreciating the female form. My head has been known to swivel as a handsome gent has walked by.
I just would have thought that someone in the public eye would have learned to be a little more discreet about it. Eyes only!

regardless of whether it was “real” or not… they’re only human.

Lisa — I agree!
I also agree with those saying these guys are only human. (I think it’s Sarko’s expression I love the most. So French!)

In the first photo, he’s actually looking at her shoes and thinking, “I can’t believe she’s wearing those shoes with that dress!”
