Manolo asks, when did Kate Hudson turn into the hardened, 53-year-old divorcée?
“Alex, be a dear, get me my Kools.”
Manolo loves the shoes!
I don’t “get” her. She’s pretty, but not in an outstanding way, and she seems nice and likable, but those things aren’t usually enough to command the star power she seems to have.
Ah, but she was luminous in Almost Famous.
I just had to look up her age. She’s 31 going on…well…maybe not 53, but certainly at least 46.
And I’m with wildflower, I don’t understand why she’s a star, you would think that nepotism wouldn’t be able to get you that far beyond your abilities.
Or a traffic sign.
Its the Kools that age a girl so pitilessly!
The hair justs adds to the old lady effect…The styling and roots make her look like she’s trying to stay in the past.
But how fabulous would this be on a real 53 year-old?
I AM 53…I would wear the cape with slim black trousers(even though I very rarely wear pants) and high heels, or perhaps a slender long black skirt, flaring gently at the hem, or dressed down with jeans. I would lose the harsh makeup and hairstyle-I do not look my age, why would someone in their early thirties want to look like this? She does have good legs…
Oh, and Lisa, yes, I would rock it superfantastically!!!
She has fantastic legs, but an annoying habit of screwing up men I like. And, it must be said, NO neck. None.
I ran into her mother at the grocery store, and the woman is WITHOUT FLAW. She even held the door for a little old lady.
@Jessica D. Yes, it not just the cape, but the entire look from the waist up. The hair and the “evening” makeup, it is all too old for California Girl Kate.
@Lisa Exactly. This would be the perfectly wonderful item for the woman of the certain age, although not with the shorty skirt, Kate Hudson is sporting under it.
@speasummerlin You have almost exactly described how the Manolo would dress the mature woman in this cape. Because it is so bulky on top, you would need the slim silhouette below, but one that continues the monochromatic color scheme.
The biggest problem is that this seems more like playing dress-up for Kate Hudson than the legitimate look. It seems so out of character. The Manolo is also bothered by the fact that it is the wrong time of the year for the cape. This is not the piece for the spring evening, no matter how chilly.
That’s true. In fairness, it has been very chilly in southern California. I have noticed that people don’t seem to dress for seasons.
@raincoaster So here’s my Goldie Hawn story. I’ve always thought she was adorable, but as she aged, I got to the point of going “oh come on, dress/act your age” as I saw her in various pictures with Kate. Goldie’s still got the long hair, rather hippy way of dressing, etc, and I think women look better if they update their look for their age, right. Then I saw Hawn in real life and she still looked absolutely fantastic just as she was–pictures just weren’t doing her justice. I was completely converted. Whatever it is she’s doing, she should just keep doing it.
And even if her outfit is not age or season appropriate, I do like the shoes!
It was when she made that foolish movie about getting married in Paris.
Scratch that, darling. Her sister, played by the (usually) infinitely more interesting Naomi Watts, was getting divorced in Paris. Le Divorce was the name of the movie, which reminds me just how hopelessly derivative and boring it all was. At any rate, I believe that is when she started down the high-friction slide toward dowagerdom. It’s really too bad.
The cape isnt aging, its just her!
Chanel Iman is rocking the hell out of this cape in this video
