Happy Sts Crispin and Crispinian’s Day!

Manolo says, Happy Sts. Crispin and Crispinian’s Day! The Patron Saints of Shoemakers! Today is the day to celebrate those hardworking peoples who bring us such inestimable joy.
Look, here from the Manolo’s internet friend the Coudre Mode, is the video of one of the cobblers at the John Fluevog making the shoe by hand…
The finished product, the Cana Pump in purplish.
One truly appreciates the shoes and the people who make them, when one sees how much work goes into them, no?

I have two pairs of Fluevogs on their way to me (scheduled for delivery tomorrow) and now I’m even more excited about them than I already was.
No wonder some shoes are made to be expensive because the people behind them put so much toil and time to make the perfect shoes. :-)
Those are lovely shoes. Maybe that’s the reason why some shoes are kind of expensive… it’s the labor behind it.
The Cana would be expensive because it started as water and became wine. Colored.
The Gold Digger has just made the official comment of the week, if not the month.
My grandfather was a shoemaker (he died when I was 12). I have a few bits and bobs from his old workshop — gorgeous lucite heels with flowers inside, for example. Watching this video was surprisingly emotional for me. It was also lovely. When you see the work and the TLC going into the making of a shoe, how can you help but love them even more?
I bought my first Fluevogs this past May. Every time I wear them, I get compliments. Now they’re even more special to me.
Thank you!
I must say I am very impressed with the John F video
