Seven Years of Shoeblogging: The Anniversary of the Manolo

Manolo says, on this day, in year 2004, the Manolo started his humble shoe blog.

Manolo Blahnik Carolyne Pump

Seven years? Who could have imagined that the Manolo would still be here after all these years?

So much has changed since the beginning, from the growth of the fashion blogosphere, to the democratization of the fashion reportage and criticism, to the commercial triumph of the corporate blogs, all of it visible from this odd little quarter of the interwebs.

And yet, here is the Manolo, still sharing his love of the shoes, still trying to make his friends laugh.

And through it all, this has been the Manolo’s greatest reward, to know that he has been able to bring the small measure of pleasure to to his internet friends, and that they have responded to him with love. And for this the Manolo will always be most grateful.

You are most super fantastic, indeed, dear internet friends!

The Manolo has my most sincere congratulations! This humble fashion blogger must give the Manolo the credit for her love of looking at the beautiful shoes, which as a law student, she cannot afford to buy. Many thanks for the laughter, the wit, and the most gorgeous of shoes!

    Happy Anniversary!

Many is the time that a post from the Manolo has pulled me out of the workday blues and sent me exploring the Internet with a wonderful link.

If this was a wedding anniversary, the traditional British or American observation would include something made of wool or copper. The “Modern” recognition suggested is a desk item. This would be more appropriate as The Manolo does not need the boiled wool shoes with the copper buckles.

    Enjoy the day!

Congratulations, dear Manolo. I’ve learned a great deal about many things from your blog, not all of it about shoes. Who knew they could be the departure point for so many interesting philosophical and sartorial discussions? Well…. you did!

Late to the celebration, but nonetheless sincere in praise for The Manolo’s cleverness, erudition, taste, modesty and humor. While The NDC knows that the shoes are The Manolo’s raison d’etre, she has a wee suspicion that the feetwear are a platform (pun intended) for much, much more, and we accolytes appreciate it.

    All the best,
