This is ridiculous. As this year alone dozens of articles, in such publications as the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, the Times of London, have been written about the growing power and influence of the fashion blogosphere. The point of most of these articles is that the fashion blogs are having the significant impact on the wider culture. And they all note how fashion blogs have changed the relationship between the clothing designers, the clothing retailers and manufacturers, and the consuming public. Where before there were one-sided announcements, now there is conversation.

The Manolo would also point to one other indication of the importance and impact of the fashion blogs: money.

One need only look at such recent developments as the purchase of Coutorture by Sugar Media, and the amount of capital raised by Glam.com to know that the the economic potential of the fashion blogs is great. Indeed, the Manolo himself has been approached repeatedly in the past six months by the venture capitalists offering him ridiculous sums of money for investment purposes. This sort of thing does not happen to the pet blogs.

And so the Manolo now calls upon the Weblog Awards to acknowledge what the rest of the world already knows, that the fashion blogs are important and worthy of recognition.

If you, the reader of this post, would like to help, go to their site and leave the polite comment asking that they reconsider their decision, or email them the polite but firm note expressing your objections.

If you are the fashion blogger, write the post celebrating the substantial achievements of the fashion blogs and decrying this injustice. It is not right that the fashion blogosphere should be neglected in this way.

This it is the injustice! (Yes, perhaps not the great injustice, but the injustice nonetheless.)

One need only look at the dozens of the recent articles in the mainstream press about the influence of the fashion blogosphere to see that the fashion blogging has become the phenomenon that cannot be ignored. But ignore it the Bloggies have done, undoubtedly because the organizers of these awards are the post-adolescent techno-geeks more interested in talking about the electronic doohickeys and the Web 2.0 than the subjects that are of real interest to many millions of the blog readers.

If, like the Manolo, you wish to see the fashion blogging as the category in the Bloggies, go to the website of the awards and send the organizers the email politely expressing your desire to have the fashion blog category included forthwith.

If you were given the chance to produce a fashion ad for your favorite designer, but were only given a $100 budget, what type of ad would fashion shoot.bmpyou produce?

The Manolo, who has the auteur’s ambition, he would love to direct the commercial for the house of fashion, although he has no idea how to manage what he would like to achieve on such the limited budget.

As we look ahead to Fall season next month, what is one item of clothing you will miss in your Summer wardrobe and what is one item you are coveting for Fall?

This it is the very good question.

As for the Manolo, when the seasons change from the summer into the fall, the Manolo he will bid the fond adieu to his summer wardrobe, and he will say “hello old friend” to his fall wardrobe.

The Manolo, he is the passionate believer in the idea that everything has the season (turn, turn, turn). the autumn, and there is little that he will miss.

Have you ever worn or not worn a certain something that was probably not the smartest thing to do but you did it anyway because of the sake of fashion? Or being horribly embarassed? You did something fashion-associated that probably wasn’t practical and was punished in some way [suffering consequences by be it Mother Nature, or something or someone else]. Tell me your story!

The Manolo he simply does not have the time to organize this most important weekly event, and so we must profusely thank the Ella and the Queen for this, and we must participate most actively.

P.S. Because of the Manolo’s very busy schedule of travelling the Manolo has decided to temporarily put the Carnivale of the Couture on the hiatus, until the first week of the September. (Although, if the volunteer would like to relieve the Manolo of this duty during this period…)
