Shoes for the Princess

Thursday, March 3rd, 2011
By Manolo the Shoeblogger

Manolo says, the people at the Feetwear News have asked five famous designers of the shoes to tell the world what they would make for the Princess-to-be Kate Middleton to wear for the wedding.

Here is the design of our maestro, the Manolo Blahnik.

Manolo says, it is Monday, and you know what that means, that you are back at the office, slaving away for the Man. Sometimes, your job is fulfilling and meaningful, but other times, such as today, you are filled with ennui.

What is needed in such case is the jolt of fantasy, and so the Manolo would recommend leaning back in your reproduction Aeron chair, closing your eyes, and imagining for 60 seconds who you would seduce Mata Hari-style while wearing these exotic and super sexy sandals from Rene Caovilla.

And begin…..

The Shoes and the Snake

Here is the example of the most amusing publicity stunt.

To their high society owners, a pair of haute couture shoes can be a precious thing.

But to guard a 62,000 pound pair of ruby- sapphire- and diamond-encrusted Rene Caovilla sandals at their London launch, retailer Harrods went to extreme lengths: bringing in a live Egyptian cobra to patrol the shoe counter.

Yes, and if he fails to do his job, the most poetic fate possible awaits.

The Red Shoes of Splendor

Manolo says, gorgeous, beautiful, fiery, exotic, dramatic.

The adjectives, they cannot do this Rene Caovilla slingback the justice.

To the Manolo they savor of the exotic East. These they could only be worn to the most special of the events; perhaps the state dinner with the Yul Brenner-ish King of Siam, or maybe the opening night of Turandot at La Scala with the young Tom Selleck look-a-like as your escort.

Manolo says, the Manolo he cannot help it, he has recently become obsessed with the shoes of the Rene Caovilla. These two pairs above, they show the delicate, feminine prettiness that has made the shoes from the Caovilla the choice of many of the stars of the Hollywood. There is much of the flowerly/butterfly-y decorations, yet somehow, it seems to the Manolo to be admirably restrained.

Are they not most special?
