To me, these shoes bespeak fun, energy, and sufficient solidity to indulge the inclination to scamper over footbridges or dart across crosswalks just before the light turns red – perfect for a high-energy day of summer fun.

So, we start with an energetic and summery dress (at bluefly):

In case the summery day should grow chilly, or we want to avoid overexposure (the dangers of sunburn, you know), a fun leather jacket – the construction of the cap sleeves is a bit similar to that of the toes on the fun orange shoes, no? (also at bluefly):

Then, for our shopping adventures (or for some snacks and a water bottle and maybe a GPS on a woodland frolic), we need a handbag – this one picks up the blue-green color in the dress (at Amazon):

And to top it off, some similarly fun jewelry, inspired by the beading detail on the dress’s empire waist.  Earrings (from the Home Shopping Network):

A coordinating bracelet (also from HSN):

And a necklace (but not the pictured earrings) (ebay):

And finally, the shoes:

For this outfit, I am picturing strolling through an open air market somewhere in the South of France in summertime.

these shoes immediately made me think of something audrey hepburn might have worn when she wasn't shooting a film
or modeling for avedon or campaigning for unicef...
something she might put on when strolling along somewhere with her kids...

she'd wear a basketweave fedora...

some simple earrings and a plain ribbon necklace...

My first attempt Smiley  It was so much fun - but now I want to go buy it all!  I was definitely thinking of an afternoon of shopping in Paris, with a wrap over my arm in case the breeze picked up.

I wanted to make this outfit accessible to anyone, both comfort-wise and price-wise.  It's something you can wear to an afternoon BBQ, or out on a date with your man.

A green top to make the shoes "POP"

White bermuda shorts for the summery feel

A great bag

A clean white headband

a cute little necklace, bracelet, and some earrings to pull it all together

Put a few of these bracelets together for a more laid-back look.

This outfit goes great with these shoes... which I want very badly.

The outfit is very...ahem...expensive, but as Manolo dictates to never buy the cheap shoes, in this case I would say the non-cheap shoes deserve the [very] non-cheap outfit.

The black and cream basic pieces are well tailored, classic, and provide an interesting but still neutral canvas for the orange of the shoe to really shine. The dress is girlish, which highlights the playfulness of the shoe, while the jacket gives it some structure and contrast.

The Kenneth Jay Lane bracelet plays off the black of the jacket and the orange of the shoe while adding some sparkle without drawing too much attention, plus tigers are cool. And the sunglasses have a little orangish-brown in them, which will add some coherency from the top to the bottom of the outfit, as well as being a basically flattering shape for most faces. The added plus of this outfit is its simplicity, which both draws attention to the flashy shoe and compliments nearly every body type.

O.K., here goes.  Please bear with me as I am a brand new photoshop user, so some of my pictures aren't as clear as some of yours, and some of the proportions are a little wonky.  The navy crackled patent leather bag isn't as small as it appears:  imagine a medium-sized bag.

I decided to go with a green top to pop against the shoes, and a super-cute short sleeve jacket that can be taken on or off at the whim of the wearer of this outfit.  I also think this jacket would be very versatile in the summer with other outfits.  I love the navy bag with these colors, and I went with a dark wash denim knee short to balance the brightness at the top and bottom of the outfit.  The necklace has an adjustable chain so the wearer can adjust it to accent her, er, assets as she sees fit.  And who wouldn't love some simple drop earrings which will go with anything and some inexpensive sunglasses that won't cause heartbreak if they are lost?  The woman who wears this outfit does not mind turning some heads, but we knew that already because of the shoes.  Links follow the image.

I decided to keep it simple and minimal. Most of the pieces are from Marks & Spencer (the bracelet is from Target). I don't get to shop there often because I don't live anywhere near one, but when I do have the opportunity I can usually find something I like.

Floral Halterneck Top £15.00
Oversized Shoulder Bag £29.50
Hammered Oval Bangle Bracelet $16.99
Knee Length Denim Shorts £19.50

The ballerina colour is daring and strong, and the shoe can be tricky on some legs because of the string tied around the ankle.

My outfit would be straight leg white jeans (no skinny jeans, no, no), long or capri length. A white off-the-shoulder tunic, short or 3/4 length sleeves, at hip length.

Or with a golden tank top for a more party look, preferably a bit loose.

A white leather hip hugging belt, wide and a bit crafted but with no rhinestones or embellishments other than the leatherwork. We want to see the shoe because it's so bright and orange! So complemented by an all clean look is perfect.

No necklaces, but a few wooden bangles (wide) in white, turquoise, orange, maybe with stripes. No other jewelry to avoid the Xmas tree effect. With gold top, a more elaborate bangle, with metal parts, would be nice!

Definitely a white handbag, hobo style or very clean, both for the white and gold tops. But if all in white, I would go for a a wonderfully crafted beach basket which you can use in the city as well.

With this multi-purpose outfit, you can look extremely elegant, summery, glamorous or casual, it all depends on how you carry yourself (clothes do not make the man but the other way round...) and the ballerina will be the touch of colour and the focal point. I'm off to the shop already!

Sunglasses, Dolce & Gabbana at Sunglass Hut

And of course, the shoes!

I was going for a modern Audrey Hepburn look, and brights with black and white is a true classic.  I especially like the touch of the cougar enamel ring.

Edited on Thursday afternoon:  The Anthropologie site has changed since this morning!  The link above no longer works so I added the picture of the earrings (which was unavailable before, it was an Adobe Flash file) below the nonworking link.

The orange on these shoes is a very summery color and I have a mighty crush on it!

I wanted to go with a nature-based summer look, hence the straw bag and the flowery shirt. The blue jeans were picked as a contrast and the gold details throughout the outfit were picked as an accent. I chose prints that had hints of orange (rainbow stripes that have that color of orange in them, a printed shirt that had a bit of orange, etc).

Additionally, the straw purse is a great picnic item, so I decided to include a pair sunglasses for your day in the sun.
