A simple dress with clean lines and a vibrant color holds its own without competing with the boots. The accessories add a luxurious punch of warm color and the Anna Sui coat is the perfect topper for a bright day that starts chilly but warms up. No tights needed - she can pull up the boot tops for warmth or scrunch them down if it gets too hot.

I would wear these all the way up, over skinny jeans. Done correctly, I think this look could be really flattering on the right person. Karen Millen (the top) is one of my favorite stores in England and has really lovely knitwear. I covet my friend's Hermes bangle, which is why I've included one here. I kept the coat simple but with a cool shape so as not to detract from the boots, which are a quite eye-catching. Hope you like it!

So I looked at the boots and thought.. meh... then I looked at them again and thought... actually.... then suddenly I couldn't get them out of my head.  They are such fantastic boots, and could seamlessly be added to almost any girls wardrobe. Anyway, that's enough fawning for now.

I opted to dress the boots as though I were living permanently in Southern California, and it was winter. So this is what I came up with!

Leather Jacket and belt = Cole Haan
www.colehaan.com

Bag = Urban Outfitters UK

Top = Marithe'Francois Girbaud at luisaviaroma.com

Skinny Jeans = Cheap Monday at Urban Outfitters http://www.urbanoutfitters.com/urban/catalog/productdetail.jsp;jsessionid=C4E1FEd=W_APP_JEANS&sortProperties=+product.marketingPriority,-product.startDate&navCount=8&navAction=poppush&color=

Broach = Lee Angel

The girl who would wear these thigh-high boots would be a bit edgy and a bit demure. A bit fashion-forward and a bit traditional. And like the rich contrasting textures that make up her personality and the boots themselves (soft suede & smooth leather), she would seek contrasting yet complementary textures in her outfits, like bold geometric patterns paired with soft feminine ruffle and pleat details.

Turtleneck: Spring & Clifton Turtleneck Sweater
Earrings: Art Nouveau Tulip Earring
Hat: Eugenia Kim Muffy Eggplant Cashmere Equestrian Cap
Jacket: Sunner Calgary Ruffle Jacket
Bag: Hexagon Bag
Tights: Aristoc Enclosed Diamond Tights
Boots: Modern Vintage Summer Boot
Dress: Splendid Modal Pleated Dress

These shoes are so romantic and soft, yet the patent leather at the bottom gives them a contrasting strength. I thought that playing with textures - both real and imagined - would compliment these boots.

The gorgeous Elie Tahari dress from Nordstrom is silk and has a romantic design, with brown ropes at the shoulders that will flatter the boots. The rope texture against the silk of the dress is the perfect accompaniment to the contrast that is displayed in the summer boots. The color of Carnelian against the browns could not be more flattering.

Along with the dress, simple and elegant jewelry would be worn so as not to detract from the complicated detailing of the dress and boots. Bangles are gold, brown, and cream. The brown bangles are actually wood, another subtle texture for the mix. The earrings are simple gold baubles, whose placid shinyness would bring out the shine of the patent in the boots.

However, these are between-seasons boots. While they are called summer boots, and I do believe they should be worn slouched and low for the silhouette of the dress, they may be worn when the weather is prone to turn while the lady is out shopping for her new seasonal wardrobe. If she becomes chilly, she may layer this chic, gorgeous Dolce & Gabbana leapord-print jacket. The Carnelian skirt peeking out from beneath would be just beautiful! The animal print suggests a new texture as well.

Last we have this subtle cream satin Prada clutch. The cream matches the single bangle in the bracelet group, and compliments every other color while remaining a non-competing neutral. The satin texture brings out the shinyness of the earrings and boots and adds depth. The details and hardware of this immaculate clutch are a matching gold.

I hope you enjoy!

I saw these thigh high boots and immediately built an outfit...from my own closet!!

I love bright colors peeping out from winter coats, so I layered a deep-violet jersey dress with a victorian blouse. The subtle pattern of the red pashmina contrasts nicely with that of the silk strap, and echoes the motif of the leather bag. I'm waiting for the white coat to arrive (on order) so that it can hide the playful outfit underneath. It would go fabulously with these summer leather boots. Brown leather gloves to keep my fingers warm and pick up the brown of the boots...oh and sunglasses to protect my eyes from the winter sun.

violet jersey dress: H&M
victorian blouse: vintage from Beacon's Closet
red pashmina: street vendor
leather bag: vintage from No Relation Vintage
brown leather gloves: Saks Fifth Avenue
sunglasses: D-squared
white coat: MCQ (net-a-porter.com)
