Men’s Fashion from Barcelona
Manolo says, last week, it was the fashion week in the Barcelona, and so now we take the look at what the stylish mens they will be wearing next spring.

Hawkman superhero headgear.

Saffron, Ali Baba organ-grinder-monkey’s vest with matching low rise sans-a-belt pantaloons.

Liberace twin-set casual wear.

?!?
The Manolo he is simply at the loss for the words.

…I am at a loss for words. Horrible, horrible!

Before we judge, surely, there is something we can pull from each picture which will translate later to the streets, since that is what fashion on the runway does occasionally. I think the use of pastel colors in each was a nice choice…
Oh, and for the last picture, who could not use a pair of red suspenders? They will surely make any man feel like he is going places. (The looney bin.)

Sometimes it is best not to say anything

The last photo - “Smurf pimp”
I’m just sayin’…

Oh, how timely. As I am going to Spain next week, I’ll be able to outfit my husband in the latest fashions. I wouldn’t want him to stand out too much from the locals. Thanks, Manolo!

Can’t. Catch. My. Breath.
I can only guess the first gentlemen has made a conquest of the feminine kind and is in engaging in some sort of misguided bravado.

Evidence that all one needs to be a successful fashion designer is a complete and total lack of taste and no shame whatsoever.
I’d much rather wear the Emperor’s New Clothes than any of these dustrags.

I’m sure the knee pads come in handy, that’s all I’m sayin’.
September 28th, 2005 at 8:56 am
Deb.
The last photo says, “Mime smurf pimp.”
The rest simply say, “Eeeeeek.”
September 28th, 2005 at 9:33 am
Is the Manolo trying to say that he finds the second photo “Divinyl”?
September 28th, 2005 at 10:00 am
The Zarba, he says that the DebR is the genius!
The last photo should have a male camel toe alert attached!
September 28th, 2005 at 10:21 am
All I could say: HUH?
and
What the ….?!?
September 28th, 2005 at 10:35 am
I just spit my orange-mocha-frappucino all over my monitor when I read the Derek Zoolander comment!
laughing…so…hard!

The last one could be the Homeless Mork look, but for the very smurfy trousers.
September 28th, 2005 at 11:16 am
That last one is more like Nanu nanu smurf.

The Mick & the Bianca merge into Clone of the Fashion Damned?
September 28th, 2005 at 11:40 am
I think the designer responsible for man number 2 in the yellow vest should be introduced to “froggy” from a few weeks back:

The Zippy will trash the clothes and leave with the gentlemens’ wearing them , thank you. The Zipster believes they have the better sense of taste.
September 28th, 2005 at 5:24 pm
Gawd…even male models are completely devoid of anything that could be construed as muscle…yech.
September 28th, 2005 at 7:00 pm
What the designers would love for their boy-toy lovers to wear…
September 28th, 2005 at 7:14 pm
?!? is sufficient for the last entry. It defies description. I loved loved loved your comments on the other ones, especially Monkey Boy. The models are sultry and smoldering, don’t you just love them?

Now that AskMom is finished wiping HER snorted coffee off her screen, she simply MUST beg VeddyVeddyBadAng, when she returns from the trip to the Spanish lands, to post the pictures of the husband clad so wonderfully. He will certainly be the hit on the streets of Madrid, and I can’t be the only devotee of the Manolo who is dying to know how it will all work out for him :)
September 28th, 2005 at 10:59 pm
That last one!! Aaayyee, or Oy Vey, as the case may be.
The codpiece is the advertisment.
The knee pads they are for the comfort.
The hat, it is the Bing Crosby Golf Chapeau.
September 29th, 2005 at 3:37 pm
I get it! They are in touch with their inner 4-year-old girl. I remember when mine dressed like that. She had so much fun!

Sadly, the Manolo has been tricked. That was not a fashion show, it was a benefit for men with eating disorders. It is time that the world realizes that men, in apparently larger numbers than we had ever realized, will also starve themselves away to mere nothing in order to be considered “in vogue.”
Fight the power! Have a snack. Put on a coat made of feathers. Do it for the organ-grinder monkey-boy.
September 30th, 2005 at 5:25 pm
The Mama, she would say “If you can’t say anything nice…”
It is very hard to resist a comment, the blue one…

The Monkey Grinder droid model has got the longest torso for a man that I’ve ever seen.

[…] Brighton and, if Manolo’s Shoe Blog is anything to go by, preventing me from buying into the Spring 2006 menswear season will be her biggest challenge yet. […]

My favorite new hobby is rolling my mouse over the Manolo’s photos to see his titles. Always good for a giggle.
