Could someone explain how European men (and also the women) are able to maintain a hipness appropiate to their age that their American contemporaries cannot. (Anna Piaggi, El Diablo Lagerfeld and the Middle Aged Mutant Ninja Drag Queen Donatella nonwithstanding) I’m really curious, is it a culture thing? ’cause the clothes and accessories are all available here, but NOT the panache. When I visited Paris a few years ago, I was more interested in the Parisians than the exibits in the Centre Pompidou…

Joel, I am so saddened that you feel I do not have the panache; even though you’ve never even seen me.

Merde,
Don’t jump all over me all at once. The photograph spawned the question, but as the genesis only, and not held to be the sole example.
Francophilia hasn’t damaged my brain, But the countless Americans who wonder around in”comfort” have. We as a country have much to learn about appropiate attire, both at Home and Abroad….
