Fishhead by Christian Louboutin

Manolo says, Ayyyyyy! The Manolo is frightened!

Frightened not by the fishy shape of this ugly, $1000 dollar shoe, but by the idea that the maestro Christian Louboutin could design such monstrosities.

When your attempt to be whimsical results the green python fish shoes that appear to be regurgitating the wearer’s toes, do not be surprised if others question your judgment and taste.

The Manolo would put this shoe into his Gallery of the Horrors, but he is too dispirited. He must now go lay down with the cold compress on his forehead.

Please discuss this among yourselves while he is gone.

That is pretty horrifying.. why would you want your toes to look like they’re being vomited from a fish’s mouth?

If you’re going to wear Louboutins, wear cute ones.. with a big bow or something :)

  2. Gorgeous Things Says:

I can see the headlines now: Man-eating Carp Found Nibbling on Toes!

  3. shiloh Says:

Perhaps the Maestro was having an ‘off’ day, or it is ‘conceptual’? But it is definitely ugly!

  4. Allison Says:

I noticed that this shoe can’t be shipped to California per a state law, so at least we can hope that this fishy mess won’t show up on any red carpets anywhere. We should also hope that an “earthworm” shade of toenail polish is nowhere on the horizon. Yeech!

  5. TovaGold Says:

I say God Bless Christian Louboutin! While most designers are forced to conform to standards of what most people will realistically spend their money on- he has afforded himself- through talent, luck and good fortune- the luxury of being able to design whatever his fantastically imaginative mind can conjure up! I dread the day when there is no-one thinking up unique and unusual, (if ugly) innovative ideas for fear of being blasted on a blog!!

  6. Phyllis Says:

    Wow - Pirana shoes!

  7. Poochie Says:

Ashley Dearborn comes up with just as imaginative ideas (not in scary ways though) and she does not have the same luxury that Mr. Louboutin does. She does to whimsical designs, like a dragon shoe and unicorn shoe, check her out:

  9. Tk Says:

I’ve said this before, and stand by it, I love these shoes! I think they’re whimsical, well balanced, clever, and more than a little bit freaky. Also, that turquoise on the toe is such a luscious color. I’d buy them in a heartbeat if they were in my “fun but impractical” shoe budget.

  10. Texasexile Says:

No way. I cannot believe that these are Loubous. I can only hope that this is an anomaly or better yet, a knock off. They are no longer available on Bluefly - so someone bought them or they got pulled.

Truly the stuff of nightmares - the gaping maw that is the peep toe looks as if it is waiting to bite the toes of the hapless wearer . . . .

  11. daisyj. Says:

I admit, I am torn. On the one hand, as actual footwear to put on and leave the house in, they are a hideous failure, particularly when you consider the whole toe/worm/vomit aspect. But, as a whimsical, Asian-influenced objet d’art, I have to admit that I find them rather charming. Not a thousand dollars worth of charming, mind you, but charming none the less.

  12. bienchen Says:

Does anyone else think these shoes look a little like everyone’s favorite funky fashion troll?

  13. Campion Says:

Aw, Manolo, you have no sense of humor. These shoes are whimsical! Imagine, attending a corporate event or visiting with some important clients and having your shoes look as if you are being devoured by a piranha head first! Only your toes are still hanging out of the fish’s mouth. How cute! How appropriate for the business world! Dog eat dog–or fish eat fish.

  14. Roxy Says:

Was this design farmed out to the good folks at Field & Stream?

    No, really.

  15. LaVida2 Says:

He was smoking something when he designed this…I’m convinced.

I think they do not go far enough - I won’t be happy until that fish has a pointy underbite like any respectable pirhana.

  18. Nootz Says:

I actually agree TovaGold and applaud Christian Louboutin. Fashion must remain fun. If I could afford it and if I these came in flats or lower heels since, sadly, I have yet to master the skill of walking in stilletos, I would invest in a pair. These will surely be one for collectors and could break the monotony of a somber suit or un-genericize a pair of jeans. Hooray for the Christian!

A Cthulhu shoe! Someone needs to tell Louboutin that pseudopod-having Elder Gods don’t wear shoes!

  20. Ashley Says:

The worst part is that your big toe would look like the fish’s tongue. Eep!

My first thought was the old “Piranha” movie which gave me many sleepless nights as s kid. A high heeled piranha trying to eat my foot is bringing back my trauma.
