Interview With A Manolo

Manolo says, Look! The Manolo he has done the interview for the blog of an internet friend! Here is the taste:

You don’t sit on a perch, you are obviously involved in the industry; and yet your blogs are completely updated. How is it that you are so prolific?

The Manolo he would tell you that you should not overestimate the amount of the times the peoples in the “rag trade” they devote to the actual work. The typical day it starts at the noon with the cappuccino and the Campari, followed by the assiduous, lengthy reading of the Page Six, and then it’s off to the office to bitch on the phone with the Michael Kors about the latest of the outrages committed by the hoi and the polloi. Even with this schedule, as busy at it seems, there is still plenty of the times for the blogging.

Manolo says, go read the whole interview.

The Shoes of the Vegan

Manolo says, one of the Manolo’s many internet friends she has asked the Manolo the question.

The shoes you point out, they are indeed super-fantastic, but can you help the vegetarians of the world to find super-fantastic shoes, too?

Manolo says, this it is one of the more difficult questions for the Manolo to answer, for the Manolo he truly loves the leather. He loves the look of the leather, he loves the texture of the leather, he loves the smell of the new leather, and above all he loves the way the leather it makes the most beautiful shoes.

But, the Manolo he also loves his many internet friends, and he tries to help them however odd their desires they might be.

If the friend of the Manolo she is indeed interested in the shoes of the couture, then he would advice his friend to look at the shoes of the Stella McCartney. She does not use the leather.

Manolo says, this shoe from the Stella not only is it made out of the cloth and the plastic and the rubber, but it is also quite stylish.

The same it can be said of this sandal below.

Even the belts and the gloves of the Stella McCartney they are not made of the leather.

Manolo says for the person who would avoid the leather, yet who still wishes to look good, the options they are indeed limited.

Prada at the Sam’s Clubs?

Manolo says, here is the article that it sounds too ridiculous to be true.

My name is Aime Palmer, and I am a sucker for wholesale goods. Sam’s Club is my mecca — but not just for those fab mini quiches and the fresh salsa I serve at every other party.

My Waterford crystal? Sam’s. My Stag’s Leap Merlot? Sam’s. My Prada wallet? Sam’s.

They also generally carry Fendi and Prada handbags and small goods, Gucci and Dolce & Gabbana sunglasses, Ferragamo and Dooney & Bourke accessories and designer fragrances (not to mention loads of bling bling) at prices seriously lower than department stores.

My Prada wallet? $154. Not very frugal, I know. But -ista in my dictionary means getting it for more than $50 less than average department store prices, a phenomenon that makes me all warm and tingly inside.

Manolo shouts, Ayyyyyyyy! The Apocalypse, she is upon us!

Shopping Like the Starlet in the Los Angeles

Manolo says, here is the sound advice about shopping for the clothes if you are in the Los Angeles. The Manolo, he knows the LA and the Santa Monica and the Malibu well, and he can attest that many of these shops, they are indeed super fantastic.

For those who know the fashion in the LA, one of the most important street it is not the Rodeo Drive, but the La Brea, which is where you will find many of the good shops, especially the Diavolina for the shoes, one of the Manolo’s favorites.

Another of the good streets for the shopping (and the looking at the stars of the Hollywood) is the Montana in the Santa Monica.

By the way, among the many people whom the Manolo counts as the internet friends are the peoples who run this new business of genius, one which would be useful if you are in the Los Angeles for the shopping.

The Crocs

Manolo says, many of the Manolo’s internet friends they have been sending the Manolo the letters asking about The Crocs, which they are apparently, the “hot” trend in the footwear for the lazy person.

Crocs - Beach (Light Blue) Manolo Does Not Like!
Manolo says, this above it is the shoe for the man. Notice how it differs from the shoe for the woman, below.
Crocs - Beach (Light Blue) Manolo Does Not Like!
Manolo says, exactly. They are the same shoe!

The Crocs people they seem to belive that the womens and the mens they deserve the exact same shoe.

Perhaps, this it will be true in the socialist utopia of the future when the differences between the genders they have been eliminated by the selective breeding, but not yet. We, happily, still live in the world where the shoes for the man and the shoe for the woman they are different.

Yet, in the fact, the Crocs people they are not only stubborn in their misguided insistance on leveling the differences between the sexes, but they are stubborn in their unstylishness.

These they are indeed the shoes of a hypothetical distopian future, one in which the inmates they must be dressed in the footwear least likely to be useful in the popular uprising against the regime.

Yes, the defenders of the Crocs they will speak, as the defenders of the ugly often do, of the great comfort of this “shoe”. Manolo asks you, why must the “comfort” always be the war cry of those who would lead us into the bad shoes?

Manolo says, comfort and style they are not incompatable, one does not obviate the other.

Finally, the defenders of the Crocs they will tell you that the Crocs they cost only $35, which seems cheap, until one realizes that they are manufactured out of the plastic rings used to hold the packs of six. Not the good value at half the price.

For these reasons, the Manolo he has consigned the Crocs to the Gallery of the Horrors

P.S. Here is someone who differs with the Manolo on the matter of the Crocs.

Clown Fashion

Manolo says, fashion by Emmett Kelly

Now for the serious moment. This look it puzzles the Manolo. What is its purpose? What is the designer of this hoping to say? Is it, as is so much of the conceptual fashion, the sad, desperate cry for the attention? The tears of the clown, so to speak?

And if it is the attempt for the attention, why is this model’s frock so perfectly Soviet Lunch Lady utilitarian? Why is the face paint of the clown not matched with the clothes that are more outrageous.

This it is the failure on all counts, except that of bringing ridicule onto the head of the designer, DaviDelfin. Judge for yourself, here are more of the pictures.

The Shoes of Cuba

Death to the Tyrant! Beautiful shoes for Everyone!

Manolo says, look at this picture, at these poor Cuban women who must stand outside the glass looking at the shoes they cannot buy!

This man Castro, he makes the Manolo angry because he denies to the Cuban peoples who do not have the American dollars the right to buy the super fantastic shoes!

Yes, it is true, the Manolo he is the running capitalist pig-dog. He loves the Capitalism and how the market it delivers the beautiful goods to the peoples, and how it makes the work of the good designers valuable. Manolo loves this like he loves his own dear sainted Granny.

Beautiful shoes for everyone! Death to the tyrant who would deny the peoples the beautiful shoes! This it is the political philosophy of the Manolo.
