Manolo the Columnist

Manolo says, the Manolo’s latest column for the Express of the Washington Post it is now available.

Today, the Manolo takes you through the six stages of shoe-loss grief.

Dear Manolo,

For four years, I had a pair of black, beautiful, round toed pumps with a thin heel about 2 inches high. They were sexy and comfortable, and I wore them everywhere. And then a terrible thing happened, the strap holding the buckle broke. I can’t get them fixed. I’ve looked everywhere but I can’t find a suitable replacement.

Elenor

Manolo says, how well the Manolo knows the six stages of the shoe-loss grief: denial, anger, bargaining, depression, acceptance, and shopping.

First there is the Denial: “It is not possible that the shoes they have become unwearable! Perhaps if they are allowed to rest under the bed for the week or two, they will get better on their own.”

Then comes the Anger: “Noooooooooooo! Estupido! Do you not know that I need you for the hot date!”

Next, the Bargaining: “I promise, please, if they are restored to give them the most luxrious shoe trees, and the special shoebox on the shelf of honor in the closet.”

After that, the Depression: “Today, instead of going to the place of work, I will lay on the coach and clutch my beloved damaged shoes to my breast.”

Then, the Acceptance: “The shoes, they are gone, and the new ones are now needed.”

Finally, the Shopping: “Huzzah!”

The Elenor, she is clearly at the final stage of shoe-loss grief, which it is why the Manolo would recommend to her the Sigerson Morrison 5046. They are the beautiful, suede, ankle-strapped, round-toed pumps, perfect for helping to cope with the loss of the loved ones.
