Verka is delightful and strangely enough, I don’t really feel like Danzig represents his sort of humour. I can only guess that he sang specifically in German/English to appeal to Western Europe. A lot of his humour regard “novaya russkaya” (New Russians, female as his alter ego is) is lost when crammed into a two minute performance so I think he just played the drag show angle. In his other videos, his humour is actually sidesplittingly funny if you know what the Russian pop music scene is like as well as the country bumpkin stereotypes.

Help! I’m becoming a Verkaphile. He’s sort of the Ukranian Benny Hill isn’t he?
