Manolo says, one of the Manolo’s internet friends has just asked the Manolo the question about these most beautiful shoes of the Maestro Manolo Blahnik.

Hi! I’ve just come across these beautiful sandals at Neiman Marcus, but the price is extremely harsh. The color’s awesome, so are the braiding details – I love them. Do you happen to have any recommendations about where to find similarly gorgeous sandals for under $100?

High Tide Heels, Part 3

Manolo says, remember this picture, which the Manolo was unable to authenticate?

Lisa Carney's High Tide Heels.

The mystery is solved!

It was me! I am the designer of these high heeled flippers! I made them for my catwalk show for Mercedes Australian Fashion week 2002 at Bondi Iceberbs. This model opened the show and played the part of Ursula Andres walking (with not alot of grace) from sea. What a laugh! I just had a stockist of mine email me a photo of some high heeled flippers so i blogged and found this. You made my day, thanks!

The “Me” behind this charming note is the Australian designer Lisa Carney.

Manolo the Columnist

Manolo says, here is the Manolo’s latest column for the Express of the Washington Post.

Dear Manolo,

I love the shoes you recommend, but I’m working girl and too poor to afford most of them. Can you suggest something that would be appropriate for the office, but won’t completely empty my bank account?

Manolo says, as always the Manolo recommends saving the moneys carefully so that you might purchase the pair of the truly wonderful shoes. It is the eternal truism that nothing compares to the feeling of wearing well-made and beautiful shoes.

But, the Manolo knows that you are desperate, and that you need the new shoes now. You cannot show up for your very important job at the office of the Second Assistant Director to the Deputy Undersecretary of the Department of Homeland Phrenology in the barefeets. Your glowering boss, Madame Second Assistant Director McCracken, would not approve.

And so the Manolo, who understands what it is like to be poor, so poor that you must fashion your own super fantastic shoes out of the office products you have pilfered from the supply cabinet, will make the recommendation.

Look! Here is the Pfenning from the Anne Klein AK in the summery color called “kenya”. This is the professional shoe with the cute kiltie flair that looks good without rupturing your bank.
