Manolo’s Monday Miscellany
Manolo says, here are the few links which may perhaps amuse…
What would they pay you to have to wear this?
Manolo says, here are the few links which may perhaps amuse…
What would they pay you to have to wear this?
Manolo says, the Manolo politely reminds you that in honor of the unveiling of their new fall collection, our friends at the Carmen Steffens are giving away the $500 shopping spree!
Look, here is something pretty from that new collection…
Bold, beautiful, sparkly sandals.
Only three more days to register for the contest!
Manolo says, it is Monday and you are back at your desk, doing that thing that you do, so that the people that you love can enjoy the comfortable standard of living typical of the Americans of your class.
Sadly, this article has you convinced that the people of your class, the sort of well-educated, aspirational middle, no longer care about dance as the art form.
This makes you sad, not merely because you have long been (to the chagrin of your husband) the balletomane, but also because you know how hard the young dancers work to achieve excellence, and now more of them are having their hopes dashed. (Just as you had your own twin hopes of becoming the prima ballerina/large animal veterinarian crushed when you took your first organic chemistry course.)
And this reminds you that we live in the era of cheap and juvenile entertainments, of endless comic book super hero movies and senseless reality television shows. And although you do not wish to be the curmudgeoness, you long for the return of the middlebrow culture, which seemed to disappear about ten minutes after you achieved adulthood.
Do young people, college students, discuss books and movies and music with the same fearful earnestness that was so common in your youth?
Is it possible to fully consider Proust in 140 characters or less?
Ayyyy! And now you realize that you are ranting in your brain, upset that you were cheated out of your chance live in the world in which being the adult was cool. In the stead, you have arrived at the one moment in history when callow youth and their callow enthusiasms have become the highest aspirations of mankind.
Sigh.
Well, at least our society has excelled in providing us with magnificent shoes.
Beautiful, exciting shoes such as these ornamented high-heeled sandals from Giuseppe Zanotti.
