Manolo says, what better way to brighten your Thursday than with the pair of the over-the-top fabulous, blue suede, gold bedecked Sergio Rossi platform sandals?
Manolo says, as the readers of the Manolo know, in the late winter, it is often possible to find the excellent bargains on shoes worth the wearing. For the example, this marvelous Loeffler Randall sandal, the Kylie High Mignon, is selling for nearly $300 off of the original price!
Manolo says, the sixth episode of the FN Shoe Star is now available for your viewing pleasure.
And the Manolo is happy to report that he was exactly correct about who would be the winner of the quick draw challenge, in which the designer was given ten minutes to produce the sketch of the shoe to go with the Rebecca Taylor design.
The Manolo had last week predicted Shannon to be the winner, and this week, we see that Rebecca Taylor picked her as the best.
Now, as you will see above, it is time to turn the sketch into the actual shoe. But, now you must watch this episode and see what happens for your self.
Manolo says, it is Monday and you are back at your desk, convinced that the spring may finally be on the way.
It has been the long painful slog through this winter, what with the string of blizzards and ice storms, ice storms and blizzards, one right after the next, wearing down your resolve, and forcing you to spend several hours each week perusing the online real estate ads for the greater Phoenix-Las Vegas-Death Valley area.
“Oh, look, here’s a nice fixer upper in a place called Scotty’s Junction.”
Whenever you do this you end up wasting many of the minutes daydreaming about living the semi-retired lifestyle in the great Southwest, culminating in the thoughts which invariably feature the denim skirts and the straw cowboy hats and the turquoise, lots of the turquoise.
And then you look out the window and see that the sun is bursting through the clouds, and suddenly you feel hopeful that this winter thing, it is just the temporary phase, that perhaps it will end soon.
Look! Beautiful green shoes to celebrate the approach of spring!
The Camber Ostrich Slingbacks from the brilliant young Jerome C. Rousseau
On the one of the hands, if you were the woman, these shoes would be the fun, funky, fabulous thing.
On the other of the hands, if you were the man, you would be better off investing your 500 Euros in the new combination Forever Lazy Home Brewing System.
P.S. Many thanks to the Manolo’s friend, the Nancy
Manolo says, here is the Manolo’s latest column for the Express of the Washington Post.
My husband is the owner of a very large (well, 13) pair of feets. I want him to buy one of those new pairs of casual, weathered wingtips, but am having a hard time finding them in his hugenormous size. He also keeps telling me they are dorky, so I would like to convince him that he won’t look like a tool when he wears them. Help!
Manolo says, to the Manolo, who believes that one should take great care of the shoes, with the frequent polishing and the regular treeing, and who finds pleasure in the process of restoring the elderly shoe to the state of newness, the rise to fashionability of the pre-weathered shoes for the men is puzzling.
The Manolo wonders, like the husband of the Niffy, why would one wish to look like the hobo when one is not the hobo? Or, more accurately, why would one wish to look like the dorky tool, when one is suavely untoolish?
But, like the weather, the fashion is unpredictable. One minute you are pushing the sleeves of your pastel Miami Vice jacket up the forearms, and the next it is hailing. And, just as one cannot change the weather, one cannot change the currents of fashion. One can only complain about the conditions and dress appropriately.
Here is the James Wingtip from Frye in the distressed brown. It is of decent quality and reasonable price, and available in the ginormous size 13.
Manolo says, the people at the Feetwear News have asked five famous designers of the shoes to tell the world what they would make for the Princess-to-be Kate Middleton to wear for the wedding.
Here is the design of our maestro, the Manolo Blahnik.
His design: An ivory silk pump with organza lilies of the valley and sea pearls
“It represents springtime and everything fresh and new, which is what Kate Middleton is all about.”
And now, you must go see the rest of the designs (be sure to click on the “images” button).
Manolo says, the Manolo’s shoe designer friend, Abel Muñoz has just sent the Manolo his look book for the coming season.
What the Manolo loves about these shoes is that they are so elegant and restrained. Here is the description for the new collection.
His handmade collections are influenced by time spent at a number of ateliers in Milan and the artisinal work of shoe designers in the 1930s and 1940s prior to the introduction of worldwide mass industrial production.
The current collection is inspired by the classic silver screen’s female stars.
These are very fun shoes with more than the little bit of style and class.
