Giuseppe Zanotti for the Tuesday
Manolo says, the Manolo is in the air over this unlikely shoe from the Guiseppe Zanotti.
This is decidedly not what the Manolo thinks of when he thinks of the Giuseppe Zanotti sandal. (Where is the blingtastical bling?) Although, it strikes the Manolo as the honorable attempt at something new for the Zanotti, and thus earns the “A” for the effort.
And yet, on the other of the hands, it is not exactly correct. Perhaps it is the proportions of the straps which seems slightly too big.
Still…
And now the Manolo asks, would you wear it?

It’s too absurdly high! No platform so the heel height is insane.

I like it, but it’s very ’70’s. I think you could wear it with a wide-legged white linen pant or something with a narrow, dark brown leg, but the fact is you don’t see either of those items around much.
Personally, I’m happy to leave the platforms to the ecdysiasts who popularized them.

just bought a white linen wide leg pant from MASSIMO DUTTI. looks great with a very easy to wear beige suede platform with back zipper from SOFTI of all places.

I wouldn’t wear them, but I am a great big wimp about my shoes, so that doesn’t mean much.
I like them, kind of. I like the brown leather and the natural canvas, and I like (surprising to myself) the organic-looking way that the straps flow down and grow wider over the toe. But the proportions of the heel seem awkward, especially with that thin little sole–and yet, I have trouble imagining them any other way. So I find them ugly, yet compelling.

The fabric/leather/wood combination in those colors suggests Africa, at least to me. I’d wear them in the warm evenings of Douala, for a dinner on the banks of the Wouri, with something like that beautiful Hermès number (on the right).

I like them, with a caveat: I think the heel is too chunky and could be pared down a bit, with a bit of a sweep to echo the sweeping straps. It looks different in a 70’s way (as Miss Raincoaster points out). Further, I like the wide straps, as their winding symmetry calls to mind a warm hug.

While I am not fond of high platforms, this shoe needs something more substantial than the whisper-thin sole it has.

I love the shape of the heels, and I think the heel height makes them a “mostly sitting” shoe–the one thing that might slow me down would be the thickness of the straps. I love the materials used, and the shape and sweep of the straps–but if they’re really so wide on the foot then it would just look like you’re wearing those boots with cut out toes. And I just cannot stand those.
Otherwise, this would look great with a lot of things, including the linen wide legged pant.

As a fan of the blingtastic side of Zanotti, I’ve got to say that this shoe looks both clunky and flimsy at the same time. Are those wide straps sewn together? If not, wouldn’t your foot come out when you tried to walk? I vote no, not even in my coffin. Give me bling and a daintier shoe any time.

Miss Raincoaster is right, the shoe does have a 70’s look. As a matter of fact, I think I had a pair of very similar looking shoes pumping my way down the streets of San Francisco. My first impression was, yes I would wear them.

If I were able to wear a heel that high, I would wear the heck out of those…

In my fantasy world, I would very much wear these shoes.

I like them.
I think they would fit better with a nice platform.
Since I don’t really wear pants, I would probably wear them with a faux-wrap dress.
Tres` 70s!!!

Wow!!
Love much to wear this shoes.
Though I am afraid to wear a heel that high, still love to do it.
