Manolo says, the theme of this week’s Carnivale of the Couture (hosted by the Manolo’s internet friends at the Shangri Law) it is “the fashion things you cannot live without on the desert island”.
This it is the most difficult for the Manolo as he is not someone who likes to “rough it”. Indeed, the items the Manolo believes absolutely necessary for survival they would require the medium sized shipping container.
However, the lengthy list of items it is not in the spirit of the event, and so the Manolo he has limited himself to two things.
The one thing the Manolo he absolutely cannot live without, it is the shoes of the John Lobb, the best men’s shoes in the world. If the Manolo is going to spend the rest of his life on the desert island, he will not be chasing the coconuts and the wild boars in his bare feets.
The second item that the Manolo the Shoeblogger considers indespensible for the survival, it is the single, simple, perfect pair of the shoes from the maestro Manolo Blahnik.
If the Manolo the Shoeblogger is to be trapped on the desert island, he needs something to keep his spirits afloat, something beautiful, something sublime that he can contemplate when he become depressed at his condition. This simple, elegant, classical shoe it would remind the Manolo that he has not been forgotten, that the benevolent God continues to exist, and that His works they are mighty.
Manolo says, the Manolo’s internet friend the Almost Girl she has emailed the Manolo the announcement about the New York Fashion Week, and the fashion blogging.
State of The Fashion Union: Invitation To All Bloggers
With Fashionweek kicking off the first week of next month in New York, Almost Girl and Fashiontribes thought it would be fun to do something similar to my Black Friday blogging extravaganza. Except this time, in honor of the Fall 06 shows, the theme will be “The State of the Fashion Union.”
Because there’s such a wide variety of us blogging about fashion & lifestyle, the theme is wide open to interpretation. Some ideas could be:
* what fashion means to you
* why fashion is important (or not)
* your take on the shows
* which country produces the strongest design
* etc. etc.
We did a countdown last time, so Fashionweek blogging would begin Friday, January 27th & countdown to Friday, Feb 3rd when NY Fashionweek kicks off, with blogging continuing throughout the week until the end of day on Friday, February 10th.
Lesley Scott at Fashiontribes and myself will collect all of the links and use our blogs as a portal to the fashion content. In essence, it will work exactly like Black Friday Blogging did!
Everyone who participated in Black Friday is again welcome to participate and I encourage anyone who did not participate to get in on the action this time. It is fun to see everyone’s thoughts and for a little personal incentive it really drives traffic and readership.
So please email me Julie Fredrickson and Lesley to get in on the action so we know who is in on the game. Also, whenever you post something new please email us as well so we can get it up on our sites as quickly as possible.
In addition, for extra ease of use Lesley is hosting The Manolo’s carnival the week before Fashionweek (starting January 28th) and I am hosting it the week of Fashionweek. So if you plan on participating in The Manolo’s carnival it is now part of our carnival effort as well!
Manolo says, here is the second Carnivale of the Couture, in which many of the internet friends of the Manolo contribute their entries on the topic of “Fashion Don’ts That Make You Crazy”
The legal divas of the Shangri Law, their fashion don’ts include the The Mentally Defective Baby-Tee and the K-Fizzle Chic
And finally, as the antidote to the don’t, the Almost the Girl, to whom the Manolo owes the debt of gratitude for the idea for the Carnivale, she claims that there is no such thing as the fashion don’t!
If the Manolo he has neglected to include your contribution to this, or you would like to add your crazy-making don’t please email the Manolo.
Manolo says, many of the Manolo internet friends who made the predictions were late to the Carnivale of the Couture, and so the Manolo he will now provide the links to their websites.
The topic of the next Carnivale of the Couture it is “Fashion Don’ts that Make You Crazy.” The Manolo he will be collecting the links later this week for the publication of the Carnivale one week from today, Monday the 16th of the January.
Manolo says, here, long overdue, is the first Carnivale of Couture!
The Manolo he wanted to start the first Carnivale and the new year with the interesting and the timely topic, and what could be better then asking the super fantastic, super smartie fashion bloggers for their fashion predictions for 2006.
Manolo loves the shoes, and so what better way to start the first Carnivale of the Couture than with the Shoewawa‘s Spring shoe predictions, which they are the chunky leather, platform moccasins, formal-looking wedges, and white!
The wonderful Coolchiq says that the slaves to the fashions of the 2006 will be sporting the high waists, the balloon skirts, the calm neutral colors, and vegetable prints!
The Verbal Croquis (who the Manolo has just discovered and added to his blogroll) predicts the return of the purple, the 1940s, and lots of the militaria.
The Pink Mirage, who the Manolo has loved and read from the first day of her blogging, predicts that the animal prints they are out, the white and the cream they are in, and, the best of all, Pirate Galliano!
For the future of the Carnivales, the Manolo he will host the next one here at his humble shoe blog, but he would like to have the Carnivale of the Couture rotate through the fashion blogosphere, so that all may share in the duties and the bounty of the traffic. So, if you would like to participate please email the Manolo so that he may put your name on the list to do the hosting.
The topic for the next Carnivale, to appear next Friday, it is: Fashion Don’ts That Make Your Crazy.
Manolo says, now that the Manolo is back at the blogging it is time to (in the words of the Emeril) “kick it up the notch”, and so the Manolo he would like host later this week the first Carnivale of Couture, the collection of the bloggings from the Manolo’s internet friends the fashion bloggers.
And to help his many internet friends to find the topic on which to write, the Manolo he would propose blogging about the topic: Fashion Predictions for 2006
So, if you are the fashion blogger, or the blogger who would like to write about the fashion trends of the new year, blog something good and send the Manolo the link. On the Thursday or Friday of this week, the Manolo he will post the links and we will have the first Carnivale of Courture.
