The Shoes of Cuba

Death to the Tyrant! Beautiful shoes for Everyone!

Manolo says, look at this picture, at these poor Cuban women who must stand outside the glass looking at the shoes they cannot buy!

This man Castro, he makes the Manolo angry because he denies to the Cuban peoples who do not have the American dollars the right to buy the super fantastic shoes!

Yes, it is true, the Manolo he is the running capitalist pig-dog. He loves the Capitalism and how the market it delivers the beautiful goods to the peoples, and how it makes the work of the good designers valuable. Manolo loves this like he loves his own dear sainted Granny.

Beautiful shoes for everyone! Death to the tyrant who would deny the peoples the beautiful shoes! This it is the political philosophy of the Manolo.

Boots for the Snow

Manolo says, several of the Manolo’s internet friends have asked the Manolo the questions on the topic of the boots for the cold.

You and I both see eye to eye when it comes to the horror that is The Uggs. However, living in the Boston area, and having just suffered through a major blizzard, I wondered…what’s a stylish girl to do about winter boots? I have dressy leather boots for going out in the winter, but those are not appropriate for the shoveling…

Is it just a situation where I have to wear the ugly, but warm and dry “boots of the duck” whilst I shovel away, and just change out of them as soon as I can? Or are there anymore stylish options out there that I am missing? Hiking boots don’t really work in 3 feet of snow…

Here is the second question.

My question for you is this: I know that the Ugg boots are not super fantastic, yet, they are shoes of such warmth for me in my cold Canadian climate. On a cold day, putting my feet into a pair of Uggs makes me feel super fantastic, yet, I know that I look ridiculous, as I am not a 12 year old Asian girl (who, as you have said, are the only people by whom the Uggs should be worn). Do you have any suggestions for a pair of super fantastic, and yet also very warm, boots for my cold feets?

Manolo says, first the Manolo he would answer this question by saying that if the first friend of the Manolo she is shovelling the snows, then the fashion of the boot, it is not of the primary importance. The comfort in the cold and the proof against the water, they are indeed the primary concerns.

However, if the purpose of the shoe is to merely walk in the cold and the snow, rather than shovel, than the Manolo he would recommend one of these boots to you.

Manolo says, this boot it is from the Ugg! But it does not make the Manolo roll his eyes in the disgust. Yes, it is somewhat masculine in the form, but the shape and the color it pleases the Manolo.

Rockport - Monte Nevada (Brandy) Manolo Likes! Click!

Like the Ugg boot, this boot from the Rockport(!) it is lined with the shearling and it is smart.

Born - Crosscreek (Black) Manolo Likes! Click!

Finally, here is the tall boot with the shearling and the leather straps from the Born. Yes, the straps they look too complex, but to the Manolo, the effect of going behind the calfs it is amusing.

Manolo says, one of the things the Manolo he asks of the winter boots is the practicality, that they are functional before they are stylish. The feets they must be kept warm, and the tread it must prevent the falling on the ice.

However, at the same of the time, these boots they are more than just functional. They have as much of the style as can be expected in the boots of the harsh season.

The Sore-Footed Mama

Manolo says, one of the Manolo’s many internet friends has asked the Manolo the question.

After decades standing on her feet for hours on end at a retail job, my mother’s feet are a disaster. She cannot find any nice shoes that don’t pinch or hurt her poor abused feet after an hour of wear. Can you please recommend any particular brands or low-heeled styles that would be age-appropriate (50s) and extremely comfortable?

Manolo says, this question it is easily answered with the three words: the Taryn Rose.

The shoes of the Taryn Rose, they were desinged by the lady doctor, the orthopedic surgeon, who like the mother of the Manolo’s friend had the feet of soreness from the prolonged standing. So they are made with the comfort of the foot in the mind.

In the general these shoes they are very conservative in the style, but a few, like this one, the Manolo likes very much,(although the heels, they are perhaps to high for the wearing by the mother).

If the Manolo, he were to recommend the low-heeled shoe from the Taryn Rose, he would suggest the something like this one.
Taryn Rose - Rumba (Black Cherry Nappa) Manolo Likes! Click!

Manolo says, yes, this shoe it is indeed the “sensible” shoe, yet it is still stylish enough so that the mother of the Manolo’s internet friend she will like the wearing of it.
