The Exchange Student on Glee

Monday, July 19th, 2010
By Manolo the Shoeblogger

Manolo says, Oh noes! The important role of exchange student on Glee, which by right of adorability and quirkiness should have gone to Lin Yu Chun, has in the stead been given to the tiny Filipino singer Charise Pempengco.

Sadly, the Manolo must object to this casting, not merely because this person is not Lin Yu Chun, but also on the grounds that she is only 18-years-old and already she is doing this…

Filipino teenage singer Charice Pempengco says she prepared for her debut on the hit TV show “Glee” by getting Botox and an anti-aging procedure “to look fresh on camera.”

The 18-year-old Charice, whose singing career rocketed after appearing on Ellen DeGeneres’ and Oprah Winfrey’s talk shows, underwent a 30-minute Thermage skin-tightening procedure and Botox to make her “naturally round face” more narrow, celebrity cosmetic surgeon Vicki Belo told ABS-CBN television.

Botox at 18? It is both sad and ridiculous.

You may be certain that Lin Yu Chun would not be getting the Botox to narrow his face were he in the same situation, which, sadly, he is not.

What might have been…

Not Gonna Happen.

Manolo says, but he has still not be cast on Glee.

The big news

Sony Music said in a statement Thursday that Lin, the bowl cut-sporting singer whose rendition of ‘I Will Always Love’ on a TV talent show made him a star just a month ago, will release an album of Chinese and English songs in July.

“I still can’t believe this is real,” the 24-year-old singer says in the statement.

Excellent news, but still, not that which we really desire….

Manolo says, speaking of oddballs with talent…Lin Yu Chun..

Everyone is going on about the Whitney imitation, but for the Manolo, the following video is the much better performance…

And now, the question is, what to do with the pudgy, funny-looking, teenaged man-child with the girlish-beautiful voice who likes singing in the foreign language?

Well, the Manolo can think of one very prominent role model for Lin Yu Chun…
